You try running something with an Italian or British V12 DOHC fuel injected and tell me that you wouldn't be worried about the black hole money pit

The thread is about what car you would buy if money is no object.

Not what car wouldn't you buy because instead your CAPTAIN SENSIBLE. some people are too serious to let their imagination have a little fun.

Also the chances are a V12 would be quad cam as it would have 2 cams per head.

Oh I've had them, Rollers, mustangs, trans am, several 'vettes, I used to import them, Aston, jags its over rated, believe me. Friends have still got Ferraris and the like, but they are not the fun they appear to be. Now a motorbike, thats fun.............

Completely agree, I had a pillion ride on an R1 about 5 months ago. My chocolate starfish has only just stopped twitching like a rabbits nose. Complete adrenalin rush. Hopefully I will be doing my licence in the near future.

A pleasure. being a saddo as a youth, i had a "Guiness Book of Car Facts and Feats". And it was mentioned at length. Sadly it was not the flying version....

You have answered your own question there, its the difference between a drivers car and posers car :P

Although they don't appeal to me either, I totally get why people like the understated looks and let face it in some cases supercar beating performance. In the same way a Caterham R500 would embarrass almost all of the cars mentioned so far.

Like the otehrs that have replied IF I had the choice, I would a have few cars for different occasions.

I am not a huge Ferrari fan but I had go in this 360 on a few months ago, I have to concede it does sound amazing and goes like the proverbial.

That noise made the hairs on my neck stick up. Must be the sign of a proper petrol head. Fantastic!

EDIT: If I had all the money in the world I would buy a Hyundai though! :whistling: :good:

Yeah forget modified Ferrari's, that's a beautiful car

Forgot to add another fave. Porche 914 from the 70s. Almost 1,000 bhp un-turbocharged. Was a widow maker too, had a habit of flipping.

That is a Volkswagon in a small body, you must be thinking of something else.

Sorry complete typo on my part, meant 917.

If we are talking Le Mans cars, I will take your Porsche 917 and raise you the Jaguar XJR 12

I can't find the clip now but it's there on YouTube somewhere the most amazing engine note I have ever heard.

Edit: similar sound.

If you don't get this, you are probably already dead

and arguably the most '10/10' qualifying lap from the late great Tom Walkinshaw

TVR Tuscan 2, and an Aerial Atom. Plus a few others, probably!

I don't care if the Tuscan breaks down all the time, I'd just look at it, and listen to the engine note.

Also, I saw a (the?) Jag XJ13 at Goodwood one year, that was nice and unusual, and sounded great. I could find room for it in my garage.
