Whitebridges
Basically you'll be alright with either pal. How are you shooting them? Off the back of a truck? Range? Stalking? Bolting them with ferrets? Are you planning to eat them or dispose of them to people that do? Personally an ounce of No 5 would be my preferred load for general shot gun bunny shooting. In some situations it's too much and others not enough. A lot depends on how you are going about the job. Big Mat
Ounce of no 5s or 6s would be my go to cartridge for bunnies. I've used ounce of 7s before and they worked fine!
Markr
i use no4 for bolting rabbits (with ferret) it stops them very cleanly although ive been thinking of giving 5's a go.

I found 4s to abit overkill, especially at 10 yards...
aris
If you are going to eat them, don't you end up with a mouth full of shot? I would have thought the larger the pellet, the better. Less shot to get rid of.
al4x
5's or 6's will be fine. I had a great hare drive last week with 5's dropping them very well. The main thing is keep the range sensible

I would have thought the larger the pellet, the better. Less shot to get rid of. I've never had a problem with them being full of shot, and i've eaten quite alot of rabbits shot with shotguns. Using everything from 7s to 4s. I'd just swap to the air rifle if there was too much shot in the meat
sitsinhedges
I found 4s to abit overkill, especially at 10 yards... There might be less of a mess than if it were hit by many more smaller pellets. I like bigger shot for this reason, less pellets mean the bunny is more liely to remain edible and they do stop bunnies far better.
drut
As I mainly use subsonics I tried 4's on rabbits, initially to increase energy at range, Liked the results so much thats all I now use, always preferred 5's to 6's in normal carts anyway but now save 5's & 6's for flying targets. marktattoo
generally no 6 30 or 32g pigeon carts for me, does the job fine for the odd bolting rabbit from the hedgerows.
Guest cookoff013
i`ve used anything from 32g #6 to 36g#4 or 36g#2. 36#4s are my prefered cartridge, although, economy wise a 32g#5 is a good compromise. the 2s were brilliant on extended shots, all through full or 3/4 choke at the time, i had a beretta. Do i need a size 5 shot or will 6 do Thanks in advance depends on range, choke and gun but I often use 7 1/2 through very open chokes and it kills totally fine if you respect the limitations
washerboy
After my go at the rabbit clay today think i need landmines planting or a AK47
houlsby
I now use whatever I'm using for clays (as I use pretty heavy rounds.. 28g 6-7.5) as I don't get the shotgun out much. I did find the other year when I shot a couple of hares sat at 25 yards that a 32g 6 made a right mess and I threw half of each away.
