Ralphster
Looking to purchase adecent pair of field boots, suitable for most terrain, field, beating and good enough for winter use!!
Mr-Sheen
I don't think you would go far wrong with anything from Meindl. Although i did read that because many of there boots are quite unforgiving they aren't the best for long duration treks, but i think by that they meant some serious hiking not beating. bazzab
Ive got Lowa desert elite for summer and Lowa Patrol for bad weather/winter. There outstanding bits of kit, incredibly hard wearing and so so comfortable. The Patrol are all gore tex so warm as ya like and incredibly water proof. Desert elites are superb for warmer dry weather although they do keep ya feet warm too in colder days. They both have vibram soles which are bang on grippy as ya like. I've seen them from surplus stores on ebay cheap as chips too. Ive also got some danner recons (but they are far to good for stomping about in muck. Which is daft really thinking about it. There supposed to be some of the best boots money can buy!!) I use them for shows, drag racing days etc when on feet all day. There are by far and away the best boot I've had or seen. Hope that is of some help bud.
washerboy
http://scottishmountaineer.com/first-look-merrell-norsehund-omega I bought these £65 from sports direct, 100% waterproof and i have tested these while mink hunting, downside is there very warm so not brilliant in summer(if we get one)

Vince Green
Or a different approach to the same question. A pair of ex-army grade 1 boots off ebay for about £18 are absolutely perfect for day to day field use, muck and truck. Save your good boots for Sunday best.
