Pykie
Anyone use to and still read these? I got my collection out of the attic earlier and had a read through a few. Proper war stories for all ages. Making good money on eBay too at the mo, especially if you have No 1 which I believe is Walk Or Die

Still along those lines, the hero usually rights a wrong or is just the hardest man on the planet and always triumphs
mick miller
I used to love reading these as a nipper, my grandma always had a ready supply at hand!
Flashman
They now print them in albums of half a dozen stories. Hun & Tojo still as evil as ever and Tommy and Empire soldiers still handing 'em their *****, without a Septic in sight.
kennett
Love them! Started on my dads old dog eared copies when I was a kid and as said they now come in a hard backed book of 6 stories, those brave tommies definately kept fritz and tojo under control
Chris Bb
I used to know a bloke who was one of the artists for that series. He reckoned that the kids were his worst critics, if he got one instrument wrong on a Spitfire's "dashboard" he'd get dozens of letters pointing it out. He ended up having to buy all sorts of technical books to double check what he was drawing. What started out as "easy money" turned into hard work! actionman1
I used to save my pocket money and looked forward to popping to the Newsagent and picking up the latest copy. Also they did Annuals, still in paper format but several stories together, i used to think it was Christmas when one came out! I did not keep my original copies as they were passed on to my brother, but i did buy a box full off a guy on the net to read a few years ago. they brought back memories. In the box was number 1 of Battle picture library, they were a rival comic, still got it somewhere, must be worth a few ££££

Paul T
Wow, I'd completely forgotten about them - my Granddad used to buy them for me and we'd read them together. Just realised it's 25 years since he died - amazing where time goes :( I used to have the original first dozen or so issues of 2000AD . I reckon they must be worth a few quid, so I asked my mum to dig them out of her loft for me. She told me she binned them 10 years ago when they had the redundant chimney stack removed. I really daren't look up how much they are worth Edited to add: Decided I'd look it up and it was quite disappointing. I feel really bad about not sending her Christmas cards for it now... Scully
I consumed comics like they were going out of fashion as a kid;Commando,Battle,War,Sgt Rock,Conan the Barbarian,Kazar etc etc. Had a good collection of DC and Marvel, along with Mad,Eerie,Weird Tales,Jonah Hex, and bizarrely Rupert the Bear annuals from when I was very small! Loads and loads of comics, including very early issues of 2000AD including the very first issue. My Mother was always berating my sister for not tidying up her bedroom,so one week while I was away doing a D of E camp,my sister not only cleaned up her own bedroom but decided to clean up mine also.....and threw the lot out! Bin men had taken them by the time I got back. The lot!
