rem708
I've already got one swarm in a skep on my front lawn plus 3 queens in boxes in the garden. You might get that price for a 5 frame nuke but not a swarm - no chance.. If the cluster is just a couple of jam jars then its NOT a swarm but a cast.... theosmith
Ok so what's it worth, I was told they go for upto 250 sp thought 100 was a bargain
rem708
I personally collect them and give them away but there are new beekeepers eager to get started and will pay. I would speak to your local beekeeper's association (check out BBKA web site for club) and ask if there is anyone interested. Then negotiate a price. If you purchase a 5 frame ( this is frames of bees with brood) nuke you should pay £70-150 but certainly there are established companies who sell them for way over this amount. Bleeh
Yeah stop being an ****.Just phone up a professional bee keeper to take them away for free, I'm sure if you ask nicely he'll chuck you a few jars of honey or something and give you a very interesting education into what he does, get the kids out and they'll enjoy watching it. Mike737
Actually, I kept bees for many years, but I never ever paid for a swarm. I collected plenty, but a swarm that would only fill two jam-jars is tiny! I generally collected swarms into a cardboard box at least a foot cube, preferably bigger. Did you even get the queen? For £250.00 I would have wanted a fully stocked hive with a full brood chamber. Currently a Buckfast queen with a five frame nucleus is less than £200.00...
