washwildfowler
myself and a friend have been wanting a gun & punt for a while now ... after searching and asking around for over a year , i found us one, we have been speaking to the gentleman who owned it for a few weeks now about buying it... well on Thursday a deal was done and we now have ourselves a single punt & gun .. we originally wanted a double so we could both share the work load while out ...but it's a start for us ... it needs plenty of TLC as you can see from the photo's .....there's 1 or 2 things we want to change but want to keep it as originally as possible ... it is fitted for a sail and a outboard .. we have the history for both punt & gun ie who built it and also who designed it ... which makes it more satisfying knowing the history ....it has not been used for around 15 years and has been stood outside ... the gun is proofed for 10 ounces not big i know but we are happy with it . we will keep you updated with progress .... a few photo's we hope you enjoy ... Wildfowler
Nice one! Your going to have a lot of fun restoring and using that! What material is the punt made from and what size is the gun? 1" or 1 1/4" Do you have any pics of the action? Good effort to you both! Regards Wildfowler Hi wildfowler , I thought I had taken some photo's of the action but could not find them when downloading them to the pc ... I will get some taken when it comes back from the gun smiths ..the punt is fibre glass ...the hull moulding was taken from a wooden punt by gentleman who I don't want to name on a open forum without his permission there's lots of history with it wich was confirmed after I had a phone call....the gun is 1/14" and proofed for 10 ounces ...It's like waiting for a bus and 2 come along at once , I've just got off the phone from a friend who has found me another single gun & punt which I shall be going to look at this week ..... harrycatcat1
I thought about you today mate when I was in Lidl, they have a two man inflatable kyak for £29.99p you could tow it behind the punt and put the dog in
mudpatten
Ah! A punt gun in your iving room. Hope that worked out better for you than it did for me. Interesting to see that the guns screw breach has the thread cut on the outside. Is it a "false" breach with a separate internal screw plug to retain the cartridge or is it a "Moore and Grey" style externally threaded screw breach? The punt looks like it will clean up nicely. Have fun with it!

Pole Star
That is a great project Washfowler & I wish you the best of luck with it & don't forget to post some pics on here when its finished & some when at work . Incidentally a friend of mine came across some unknown glass plate negatives of punt gunning & wildfowling some years ago God knows how old they are but the gun was much larger than the one you have & probably not legal today .
