Chris Bb
I`m sure she will wait for him. He'll be out in just under 3 years. That just gives her time to finish her A Levels. Result!
pimpkiller
it just seems they gave out a big sentence because he stuck 2 fingers up at the justice system especially when you see the sentences handed out to much worse groups of offenders. Gordon R
He didn't face up to what he had done. He denied it to his colleagues, her parents, his wife and to the court. His deception continued when in France, when he forged a CV. Although it wasn't a top notch forgery, it didn't make him appear very honest. He wouldn't appear in the witness box - as is his right - but to Joe Public, it indicates he has something to hide which he doesn't want questioning about. The Prosecution made much of this. His smirking expression may have just been an unfortunate photo, but his did make him look arrogant. It's just a shame this judge wasn't in charge of sentencing Stuart Hall. digger
She had just turned 15 when they started a sexual relationship. He is a dysfunctional sicko for preying on her, which he clearly did. As for the "did she groom him" comment, thats very much condoning it and saying its ok. An adult cant be groomed if they are normal. Something you want to confess? ?? Fuddster
if this was your daughter-would you be cheering or leering? he knew the rules and he broke them. he now faces being the younger party in a sexual relationship for the next few years in general population-see how he likes it. I believe Capt. Mannering said it best..."they dont like it up them" f.

pegasus bridge
It would be interesting to see the reaction if it was a female teacher and a male pupil. We had a very attractive female art teacher at my school, every lad in the year would have given anything to be her 'prey' !!!

deershooter
So the girl is totaly innocent in this is she? why should he be the only one who is punnished if it was armed robbery they would both be sentanced ,this totaly out of proportion when you see what Stewart Hall got and that was not concentual Deershooter
Mungler
Whilst I remember day dreaming many a German lesson away thinking about the teacher (a woman I might add) the law treats them no differently to a male teacher / female student scenario. I can honestly say that if I had been sexually molested by Miss Birch it wouldn't have adversely affected me and I'd have kept my gob shut I reckon I'd have got better than a C in my GCSE German as well Interestingly the cases that get reported where a female teacher has become infatuated by a male pupil, the balloon only goes up when the kid blabs to his mates and boasts. Ah Miss Birch you were fit alright Edited June 21, 2013 by Mungler

al4x
Well if the papers are right it seems he may have tried it on with a lot more young girls which does change things a bit
Malik
Well if the papers are right it seems he may have tried it on with a lot more young girls which does change things a bit It does change it, alot! The press only tell you their side of the story though, depending on their own agenda. Opinions arent facts. For example... The press pretty much name, shame and sentence people as guilty before they are even charged! Plus they all love a good story... All you need is a couple of teens that want abit of attention, drop in a comment "he tried to kiss me" press have a field day. Not saying its not true, but it could be aload of BS too. Gordon R
After declaring her everlasting love for Forrest, I wonder if the girl is feeling just a bit stupid this morning. I suspect she isn't feeling just as special as yesterday, with further instances emerging.
ack-ack
I see there have been allegations made by another former pupil that the man made unwanted advances towards her when she was 13. It might put a slightly different spin on things should they be proven to be true.
unapalomablanca
I heard he sent a text to her showing off his rippling torso and tattoo. I came from an innocent age, when the idea of a teacher sporting a tattoo would have been laughable. Standards, what standards, they never seem to go up, only down. I came from an innocent age, when the idea of a teacher sporting a tattoo would have been laughable. Standards, what standards, they never seem to go up, only down. When i was in junior school( many hundreds of years ago) i distinctly remember getting a very close look at the tattoo on my teachers forearm,it was a military tattoo for his unit and their time in the korea war,it was the last thing i saw as he backhanded me over two desks for laughing at him slipping on the wet floor. Funnily enough he was a brilliant teacher and no one ever complained about him,and he had the respect of almost everyone. Oh for the good old days
Twistedsanity
He deserved to be punished for his actions but 5 1/2 years compared to that old pervert Stuart hall who got 15 months for several admissions of perving underage girls shows what a complete joke this legal system is
Sprackles
Lots of articles in papers today but not allowing online comments....I would imaging that the huge numbers of supportive posts were embarrassing. The young lady also today declared she is going to wait for him and marry him with her father saying he will gladly walk her down the aisle. I feel this sentence may be appealed shortly as its more a message from the establishment than a proportioned reaction to his crimes. When you look at other sentences for similar, this chap has definitely been jumped on from a great height.
