kennett
Got some winter rape that has come through the winter badly and although the rest of the field has flowered and set pods there is a huge area of ankle high stuff that is crawling with pigeon, is it worth shooting or do you think they will still be coming and going in one huge flock? masmiffy
Go for it! My mate had a good few days on some 'spring rape' recently. There was a good steady stream of birds going on it. Think he had a 70, 50, 25 and 40+ in a week and a bit!
BRAD1927
Get out have a look for flight lines, set decoys and start shooting
TJ91
If its crawling with pigeons then you should be there to keep the farmer happy imo
kennett
The problem I have is that im at work all day so only see them at the end of the day when there is already a big flock there, just wondered if any body had shot any similar fields recently. Im planning on going Saturday but can't decide if I need to call in reinforcements!
Blackbart
They wont be flocked up at this time of year so they should come in ok even if you scatter them.

NickB65
TRY IT AND IF IT WORKS THEN GREAT... IF NOT THEN TRY AND WORK OUT WHERE THE FLIGHT LINE IS AND SET-UP UNDER THE FLIGHT LINE.... NOT MEANING TO SHOUT BUT KEYBOARD HAS GONE MAD......
TIGHTCHOKE
Sounds like operator error!

Don't worry too much about recon. If i were you i'd get to the field fairly early (maybe 8-9am) and watch a few birds if you can. If the place was crawling, you're likely to get some sport at some stage. Turn up too late and you may find you put off several hundred birds that may not all return. sitsinhedges
I thought this thread was about some kind of perverted sex crime..... So I clicked on it
kennett
Sorry to disapoint! Managed to finish work in time for a watch tonight, looks very promising with an almost constant trickle of birds, getting there early is not a problem, it takes longer to drive to this field than it would to walk to it as it is right behind my house! kennett
Cheers for the advice everyone, will report back Saturday!
NickB65
Dont expect huge flocks as they have moved on from this and they seem to be in groups of threes and fours. The flight lines I have been watching seems to be slow but constant so you should have lulls and then more action. And as Dead Eye Alan says... have fun.
