eccles
Had planned to go to my mates Ifan's farm this morning, but had a call to go to Richards farm said a lot of crows on his baled fields. Got there this morning very misty first thing drove into the middle field as i got to the 50 or so yards into it a mass of crows took off. Set up the hide out with some decoys, took car back to furthest hedge. Quick walk back had a smoke and they started coming back in. Great bit of fun all in singles and the odd double think only 1 pack of 5 or 6 came all morning except for bloody jackdaws. Shot very well this morning did not miss till about 45 + few second barrels to finish 3 off. Shot these in photo + 11 or 12 over a double barbed fence left them there only got 1 ball left don't fancy losing the other. think there are 4 jackdaws could have shot 60 + but don't get payed for them. To much cut grass down to decoy well 6 farms 5 miles long 1/4 to 1/2 mile wide all fresh cut grass. If them lads had turned up last time they could have gone on other farms and kept crows on the move but not asking them again.

JDog
Yes great stuff. Surely you get 30p each for the jackdaws/rooks/crows at the game dealer?
eccles
Yes great stuff. Surely you get 30p each for the jackdaws/rooks/crows at the game dealer? be ok would that only shoot what they pay for all sheep and cattle down here the only time they pay for jacks is reseeding and feeding time for stock. eccles
Thanks Lads plenty about but just to much grass cut. Usually you get a few farms at a time cutting, this year a lot have done hay in big bales,so grass on the floor longer. The farm next door to this 1 has a few fields uncut sure to cut this week, think silage so cut + chop in 2 days. There is thousands of acres cut down this valley to bloody much. Its hit and miss that you can get them into decoys. The upper farms are also cutting this week and next ,then the farms iv'e got with corn etc will be at it. A few more years then that will be me finished, back hurts to much its hard work these days. eccles
Good shooting terry, pity about those two wasted carts, I can feel your pain fella,lol.. missing crows hurts me even more. I like Crow shooting more than anything else, love seeing them fall from the sky. Carrions do a lot of damage down here on the new lambs, farms here not bothered so much with rooks and jackdaws only when they are eating their sheep feed etc then they want them shot and pay for the dead. atb Terry
FOXHUNTER1
Another cracking morning. Do the farmers actually pay you ? If so you're a very lucky man.
eccles
Another cracking morning. Do the farmers actually pay you ? If so you're a very lucky man. Yes bud i won't go unless they cough up,unless i just fancy a blast, they keep me going on lamb as well. Only shoot free for our farming families and there are to many of them. Even foxing now i only do call outs or just fancy a shot or got mates coming shooting. Got a bad back prob and won't get better,as iv'e said in post few more years shooting, i recon.. then i might not keep any rifles only the shotty for the odd day out. atb Terry
FOXHUNTER1
Nothing worse than a bad back Terry but you have to just keep plodding along for as long as possible. Nothing worse than being stuck indoors.
