I would add to this: if you don't like guns, don't use guns.

Spot on. Matters not a jot to me if two gays get married. Everyone is a minority in some aspect. Any interference in individual freedom must be absolutley neccesary.

Plus, it will annoy religious bigots of all descriptions, which is always a plus.

Wait till Mr Tony B.Liars plastic Lords get a free vote on a lot of the things we do & then see how much they will annoy you ?

I take it that's a plus ???

Unless gay narriage is made compulsory, I don't care. Those objecting strongly to it (usually) aren't gay. Just like those attempting to curtail bloodsports don't participate in them. Why should either objector have the right to limit freedoms not causing them harm? (And I don't mean offence btw - suck that up as a tradeoff for living in a reasonably free society).

Why don't they just call it an agreement between Mr & Mr or Miss & Miss but to call it marriage is taking the P !!!!

Indeed - I sympathise with the Church - they have 2000 years of dogma to uphold. I would be happy to exempt them from discrimination for not marrying same sex couples. But in the eyes of the state - we should all be equal.

If you boil it down - marriage is nothing more than a social contract. I'm not particularly fussed which two people take out this contract as it is a benefit to society.

Spot on.

I just can't get worked up over it, the sky is hardly going to fall over a very small change in the wording of a very ordinary social contract.

I am disgusted at the bigotry in this thread that has allowed the celebrations surrounding mine and ack-ack's Special Day to be hijacked by a small minority.

Falcon FN - you will wear your Fascinator!

congrats to you two by the way. I hope all your dreams come true, just remember hold eachother and never let go.

I have nothing against gay marriage. What does grate a bit is that some folk who do may be forced to carry out the ceremony even though it's against their beliefs.

That list needs an addition... Don't like your rights taken away? Well hard luck because someone else's rights are more important!

Does it matter? Really?

If one of your children turned out to be gay, would you be bothered? And if one day he/she said they wanted to get married to someone of the same sex,in church, would you object,or would you just want them to be happy?

I really can't see what all the fuss is about.

I'd be deeply offended if they wanted to get married in church. Partly because I'm not religious but mainly because I don't think I could step foot into a church without burning.
