the crowman
Hi all, here's my rant I drive to London 6 nights a week and see all the road works being set up. WHY O WHY DO SOME HGV DRIVERS THINK IT'S THERE DUTY TO BLOCK LANES 2&3 AND MAKE THE TAIL BACK TWICE AS LONG. RANT OVER :) Cheers Mark
pegasus bridge
They may be distracted whilst ******* into a coke bottle, or re-securing a hitch hiker who had unexpectedly regained conciousness? Or maybe just a 'guardian of the road' complex!!

WHY O WHY DO SOME HGV DRIVERS THINK IT'S THERE DUTY TO BLOCK LANES 2&3 AND MAKE THE TAIL BACK TWICE AS LONG. RANT OVER :) Cheers Mark because car drivers think its ok to use the right hand lane to pour past those who form an orderly que in the left lane (more than likely the road works sign says use both lanes to que), so two wagons side by side block the right lane off for a few mins allowing all the left lane traffic to start flowing again , nice people those truckers
the crowman
Orderly que what and make a tail back another 10mile long what a load of rubbish

Unfortunately, a collection of idiots driving anything from a fiesta to a white van fly down the cones and push in at the last minute causing everyone to have to brake. Whilst I agree that they are not traffic cops, in this case they are getting it right.
subsonicnat
should be like Germany and ban them off the roads between 6am till 6pm. and not going into the outside lane when duel carriageway.. Riding along two them blocking the lanes, half of them think they have a sports car..

They have just widened the M1 by me to four lanes and the HGV's just see it that they can block 3 lanes now instead of two. Keep saying it, move back to the longboats and keep the motorways clear Would be a more relaxing lifestyle for the guys that spend their lives on the road as well
fruitloop
because you get some pleb mostly moving (driving)!!! a bmw, audi ,merc......and you get what you call the T.W.A.T. factor . where you get the Muppets come screeming past pull in and slam the brakes on .putting themselves in danger, as a rig say weighing lets say 18-44t. they don't stop as quick as yr all singing and dancing abs brakes on the car. the typical mind set of the large prestige car mover .....has anyone seen nemo with the seagulls ......mine...mine ...mine ...mine mine.......cant you see who I am. plebs get out of my way cant you see what im driving....... Paul223
if all drivers new how to use motorways like lorry drivers they would be a much better place to drive on interesting isn't it, commuters rushing up and down the road twice a day think they know best and own the road, professional drivers are in the wrong? plank06
It's also these same high speed commuters that have absolutely no regards for the safety of men working on the roads!
Twistedsanity
interesting isn't it, commuters rushing up and down the road twice a day think they know best and own the road, professional drivers are in the wrong? If passing a test to drive a lorry makes you a professional lorry driver then passing a test to drive a car makes a person a professional car driver
Paul223
If passing a test to drive a lorry makes you a professional lorry driver then passing a test to drive a car makes a person a professional car driver ha ha, just goes to show what the average car driver knows, and backs up the argument 100%
Twistedsanity
Passing a driving test means you have been deemed competent by an examiner to drive that particular vehicle and not that you are a professional , I would have thought a professional lorry driver would have been aware of that fact :-)
Paul223
But having a driver certificate of professional competence does make you a pro, as does actually being paid for the job, sales reps aren't paid to drive they are paid to sell! pegasus bridge
Jesting aside, I drive a lot, and although truck drivers irritate me by overtaking each other on dual carriageways (a42 worst) the worst type of driver on motorways are those drivers who don't use them often. I've had more near misses caused by people nervously driving and being blissfully unware of the road around them. A danger sign for me is a panama type hat on the parcel shelf. topshunt
How many of you actually drive a lorry? from the responses i'd say none. if all car drivers had the driving ability of a lorry driver there would be far fewer accidents on the roads. There are people that can drive and there are people that CAN drive. And why oh why do we overtake other lorries on dual carriageways and motorways. Because a lot of new vehicles are limited to 50 52 or 55mph but some are not limited so can do 60mph which is the maximum speed for a vehicles of that size. so why would you expect us to sit behind another doing 50mph when I can do 55 or 60mph. if you've got a 300+mile journey to do it makes a huge difference. HGV drivers professional? yes. they get paid for it, ie sunday league footballers dont get paid therefore are not professional full time ie league players are so are professional, Car drivers should be made to spend a day on the road with an HGV driver to see the rubbish they have to deal with before they complain ex HGV driver
