remmy1100
the red kites are a common sight in whickham and were part of a release programme I believe, often been in the inlaws garden with them circling above never seen peregrine though Edited August 21, 2013 by remmy1100
Kes
Has the RSPB asked NE for a licence to cull the peregrine, or at least relocate it?

JDog
Do you mean West Wycombe on the M4? If so I have seen what you describe whilst driving along the motorway. The peregrines could easily take out a Kite if they so desired.

I don't hold out much hope for BOP in Ireland of any kind Big Marty due to the attitude of many including some farmers there & poisoning is rife in the 26 counties as it is in the 6 & note I lived in Ireland for more than ten years . moor man
Sounds like an aerial turf war going on, well done for witnessing it. Both Peregrines and Red Kites are expanding their range in certain areas of UK, looking for new territories so this is good sign really
Pole Star
Peregrines are known to take kestrels & Goshawks for some reason have it in for owls especially little owls so a turf could be the case who knows ?.

Penelope
Either, either. There are Red Kites along both motorways and certainly north around the M25 as far as J24. Perhaps he is muddled with the M4 & the M40 ? or maybe the name
Dunkield
I have seen kites get mobbed by crows, presumably trying to make them drop whatever they have picked up. You do get them along the M4 but nothing like the numbers up the M40
Penelope
Once counted 42 kites along the M40 coming home M25 bound from a fishing trip to Oxfordshire. I have seen a pair just short of J24 of the M"% a few weeks ago, I also know of a sighting near Dartford in Kent. I have a picture somewhere of 27(?) all working one piece of small land - they really do "need to get out a bit more"
