Mitchsan51
What is the opinion of PW members on the pluses and minuses of the CZ452.? Cheers from Oz
Muddy Funker
You'll probably find very few negatives. Trigger can be sorted out for a few quid, the only thing negative I see is the price. If you're looking at the second hand market you wouldn't have to pay a huge amount extra for something a little more Gucci.
delburt0
Weapon of choice won't go wrong haven't managed to break a Bruno or Cz in 25 yrs... Edited October 15, 2013 by delburt0
masmiffy
I asked a friend [ex Holland & Holland] who builds custom rifles what he would recommend in 17HMR off the shelf, his answer was Bruno, or CZ as it is now. That was good enough for me !!!
beanieboy
I have CZ452 in .22lr and in HMR - great wee rifles, very accurate and reliable. Factory trigger is heavy, but easily sorted - the safety is a bit of a pain as you have to pull it back towards you to release - to be fair though these are minor niggles. kent
Very good had one years. The Newer 455 might be a nice choice in the HMR or WMR but the dedicated small action 452 is just about perfect in .22 lr. I 100% do not believe in messing with the triggers they wear in to a very nice trigger in time and messing tends to make them dicey as they age, if the trigger really needed attention on one of mine I should get it to a good trigger man who will sort it without a silly kit- be aware some are quite rough through the first 500-1000 rounds
kenj
I've had my CZ 452 in HMR for several years and once all the little things are sorted, you can't fault it for accuracy. Mine recently survived a bullet stuck up the spout, due to duff Remmington ammo, but is still dropping bunnies at 130 yards. I did a review of mine on my blog, with my mods. http://www.urbanfieldsportsman.com/index.php/cz-452-varmint-17-hmr-rimfire/

joe soapy
On rimfire centrel they sometimes complain about "first round flyer" out of a cold CZ 22. I have a hmr cz and like it
JONAH898
Cz 452 was my first gun and still got it bloody love it and very accurate to the point were u only need a 1/2 inch target at 50 yards to drill out the middle lol

30-6
One negative point i find is ( unless i'm missing something ), to give it a good clean you have to take the rifle apart. Stock off, magazine holder off and also the plate in the bottom of the action off - the one that ejects the fired case. Otherwise the cleaning rod will scrape and damage against this plate as it is line with the bore. Even when using a bore guide, or the dewey one i have anyway. But still a great rifle and does everything i want of it.

30-6
Mine are both 452's had them just before the 455's were out. When using a bore guide, the bit you are referring to is depressed by the bore guide and held down. The part i refer to is fixed, it is the bit that the fired case backs onto when the bolt is pulled back and ejects the empty case. EDIT TO ADD - I use Dewey guide and rod, so with the plastic coating on the rod i would assume the diameter of the rod might be slightly bigger than perhaps a different make of rod with no coating. Perhaps a different un-coated rod would pass through unscathed but it would be very close, but my Dewey rod definetly fouls the bit i mentioned if they are not removed prior to a clean. I really think you have your models a bit muddled up, you can even clean the 452 without a guide in my direct experience. its .22 at the largest and a .22 / 6mm parker hale will fit just fine without catching, you wont get a bigger rod diameter down the bore. There has been a few 452s in my safe and the .22 I have had many years, never have I experienced what you suggest (I have with other models though)

30-6
Mine are DEFINETLY stamped 452. Both are the "Style" with nickel finish, plastic stock. One in .22 lr and one in .17 hmr. I use dedicated Dewey bore guides and rods, brushes etc. for each model. I'm sure thinking back i can remember reading somewhere (i think on the Dewey site) that they recommend using a .17 or .20 rod for the .22 bore. EDIT TO ADD - if not the Dewey site it could have been Reloading Solutions where i purchased the cleaning stuff. 30-6
On an exploded view of the 452 it is described as "bolt guide" - item 34. It has a piece sticking up off it which is the bit which scrapes the rod. I was told - it might be wrong - that this bit sticking up is to eject the fired case. 30-6
On you tube - search for Fieldsports1 452 stripdown, and watch from 13 minutes to 14 minutes, he is taking out the bolt guide there.
kent
Dunno what the heck your on about but there is nothing to snag on the rod on a 452 model and I must have cleaned them hundreds of times. 455 I am well aware there is
