Can't believe I was so stupid today.

Slowed to 45-50 through the M54 average speed cameras today but as soon as I saw the 'Rejoin Main Carriageway' sign, I put my foot down. What a numpty - there was one last camera just before the 70mph sign :sad1:

Definitely expecting the worst as I hit 69 before realising which is 3 points on my clean licence + fine. I do hate the fact though that the punishment 'lasts' 3 years..........scum kids get a telling off for nicking a car!!

If it was the last camera I wouldn't sweat it just yet , they take your speed between two camera zones not just the one camera

But surely he's passed the rest of the cameras to get to the last one :good: might not be active if your lucky,BB

The last one might not be active! Where was the national speed limit sigh befor it or after it?

Had you crossed lanes? We're you in the same lane through them all?

We're you going below the speed limit for a peiriod off tim ect?

If it's your car just wait 2 weeks. And just do the course! The cost varys some are more than other districts!

70mph.

Left hand lane throughout (though crossing lanes thing is an old loophole that was quickly closed years ago).

I'd estimate my average speed from the start of the cameras was max 45 as I'd slowed down to talk on the phone (hands free!!).

Not a great deal of advantage doing the course. Insurance companies now also ask if you've taken a speed awareness course, so your still hammered. Does keep the points off though in exchange for some dosh and a day out of your holiday allowance :/

Hope the averages work out in your favour  Cruise control is a great asset in keeping the heavy right foot in check

did you not learn anything at the course?

Oh there's always one 'Mr I'm-Perfect-And-Have-Never-Made-A-Single-Mistake-In-All-Of-My-Life!!!'

Actually yes. This was a moment of lapse in concentration rather than manic speeding.

Sorry to hear lampro :sad1: and this doesn't fill me with any confidence that I might be lucky.....

You're right about the M6 - it's a bl**dy nightmare every day right now, north and south.

has to be within 14 days not 6 months

Correct, 14 days for you to receive a NIP (Notice of Intended Prosecution) and 6 months to appear in court (in cases requiring an appearance in front of the magistrates). Only time this differs is if you are pulled over by a policeman at which point you will be verbally given notice of prosecution so nothing in the post required.

You'll be In the clear. If you did most of it at 45-50 (assume an average of 47) and only accelerated to 70 over last couple of hundred metres it probably increased your average to 47.1. Add in the over reading of your speedo and the 10% allowance that they factor in and you are probably 10mph below getting a ticket. Chillax.
