Zx12rash
It's not often I write to praise or complain about the service I receive (can't be *****). However I just thought is share my experience with a RFD near me. I've been to a few rfd in the notts/derby area. Many seem to be stuck up, snobbish types that don't want to know unless you paying out ££££ for some top of the range bit of kit. Only a couple are down to earth and a pleasure to be in. Refreshingly I went to walkers of trowell to use them to send a rifle back to manufacture. I have to say it's not the biggest, best cheapest etc. But what they lack they indeed make up for in customer service. No matter what I go in for they are more than happy to help or order parts in etc. Nothing is a bother. Nothing too small or petty. Just happy to have custom. And for this they gain my loyalty. I just wish more RFDS were like this rather than looking down their nose at you. Any one else have an rfd they always use because of their service ? Big Mat
I often go to a gunshop which has alot to do with higher end guns. I buy ( and break ) cheap guns, and they treat you excatley the same no matter what you are spending. When i want a gun they are my first choice. Paddy Galore!
all the ones round my way are good, some don't get along with churchills but i don't mind them. the only time i got a bit miffed was when i was trying to do a deal on a 22.250, they weren't having any of it which was a shame but the next one along, Chris at norfolk sporting guns did me a great deal on a win 70. Cambsman
My votes go for a couple of local shops. Fenland Rural Sports and the Barn Shop. Always had brilliant service, no pressure, great advice, and a good craic too. What more could you want?

I also dealt with MBR Sporting over the phone for some mail order bits this week and Myles was really pleasant and went out of his way to help and source me some items. GingerCat
Elderkins in Spalding were exceptional when I bought my first gun. Fully intend on buying another when this blasted house sale goes through If my phone would stop turning the keypad French it would be appreciated, every post needs editing Edited November 29, 2013 by GingerCat

GOLDCREST
Aaron Wheeler in Brighouse, West Yorkshire......What an Ace gunshop,Not a big selection of new guns, though they will get them in for you,but an ever changing selection of nice used ones of all types.Airguns, shotguns or full bore. What they don't know about firearms, probably isn't worth knowing, and everything as far as I know is done in house, even barrel re-blacking.. Good selection of clothes and accessories upstairs as well..It's too good a gunshop really, I keep buying stuff.. Great people to deal with, and very generous with advice if asked. Support your local gunsmith if he's a good one.
Oli383
Philip Morris & Son hereford, they are a great, went in the other day talking about my first shotgun, the were very helpful, had a long chat and they showed me what I could get for a little more money and some cheaper guns second hand, Didn't try and persuade me towards the higher prices at all. Also Shooting supplies in bromsgrove, they are great on offering advice, Bought my BSA R10 there new and they got me loads of scopes out to try, tested 3 different silencers, they were great also good prices. Went the other day regarding first shotgun and again advised me to go second hand and possibly start with something a little less expensive, very helpful. smokinggun
Fenland rural sports is excellent on service, also partridge guns and country store were excellent as they helped me a lot buying my first guns, The worst customer service I have ever had was from sporting targets gunshop at the risely clay ground, they were rude and unless you were spending a fortune would pick someone behind you in the queue to serve first. david_r
The Country Store in Pampisford, Cambridge is superb. Staff are always helpful. Always my first port of call. Fenland Ruralsports is also very good. Worst i've been to was in Whittlesey, can remember the exact name of the shop, but I'm sure they're not many in Whittlesey. Called as they had a second hand .22lr I was interested in. Told me over the phone it was like new. Arrived, was handed the gun and it was the biggest pile of poo I've ever seen. The chap who ran the shop was arrogant beyond belief. EDIT: Simpsons of Newmarket. Another good RFD and very pleasant and helpful.
