MattSoanes
If you shoot them up the right end you do not need silly heavy loads. I know shots that shoot high birds regularly, they use black gold in either 28g 6.5s or 30g 6s.
Old farrier
Just done some calculations on Google maps looks more along the lines of 60 yards always hard to judge height. Easy way to judge high birds drive to your nearest electric pylon stand far enough back that you feel you could kill a bird sat on the very top (not the cables) Most pylons are 120 feet high your gun angle will be between 60 to80 degrees That should give you 50 yards Hope this helps on height estimation
affinity121
Went down the route of a slab of hull high pheasant extreme 32g 5's. matone
I thought gamebore used continental shot sizes so 6 being english 5. Hull and express being UK brands will use uk sizes? I`m pretty sure Hull are loading continental sizes in their high bird loads, check their website.

scolopax
Cartridges are one of the few things the UK still manufactures, so whatever you chose, please buy a British made cartridge. Hull and Gamebore are both manufactured in Hull and you would not go far wrong with either.
