Tim Kelly
Woke up to the news that English cricket has died a hideous death.
Zetter
Typical English cricket really we have a few good years and then it all explodes and we spend about 15 years getting smacked about by the Aussies again m
Dunkield
They seem to be emulating our nation al football team, maybe they share the same sports psychologist
Mungler
The odds you would have got on a 5 - 0 drubbing immediately following our last ashes success would have been amazing. Mind you, out there it's all or nothing and with no bad weather you can't even look to a draw really. An interesting look at what heat, travel and a terrible start can do to a team's mental state. I reckon it was all down to a dropped catch....

Longchalk
Take a couple of year to come back from this, but that's the way the modern game goes. Teams rise, peak, for 3 or 4 series, and fade away again. It wasn't long ago Australia were pretty dire themselves. Captaincy is important, and Cook for all his other talents is not strong enough or experienced enough for me... Partly a product of young cricketers breaking into the national side early, then hardly ever playing County cricket again... Where do they get that wise depth of Captaincy experience from that previous eras had?

Where do they get that wise depth of Captaincy experience from that previous eras had? I agree completely. We were all lulled into a false sense of security because we kept winning after Strauss retired, but under the surface, the signs were always there in the field. He's reluctant to attack, he makes odd choices with his bowlers and is too prone to chase the ball. Now we've come up against a good (but not great) side and he looks all out of ideas. He's to reticent to go for the kill.
digger
Cookie is in mental freefall, he doesnt have the dressing room. Pieterson should do one and go home. Anderson is over bowled, Broad has lost his batting skills. Bell is back to poor form, Stokes is trying but weeing into the wind. BUT without M Johnson the convicts are at best an average side. In so far as they have averaged 141 for 5 in every innings. that said, we couldnt finish a two piece jigsaw
Longbower
Perhaps if the football team and cricket teams swapped. Well they could hardly do worse.!!! Could they??

chrisjpainter
Well the 2nd innings is off to a good start as every coach will tell you. Consistency in form is the key, and you can't argue with the fact that we've been superbly consistent!

smig4373
well played that man! They've been playing like a few of the players have taken those odds as well...It was the only value bet on the series...a few decisions could have go the other way in the summer tests and the series would have been so much closer... no preperation,no desire and arrogance to think they would win again...terrible embarrassing performance on the whole...Johnson deserves his man of the series accolade...37wkts with a strike rate of 13 runs...Brad Hadden over 400 runs from number 7,no England batsman made over 300... old rooster
Don't think it has helped Cookies batting that he shoots right handed using eye dominance correction aids rather than shooting left handed. Maybe upset his natural batting rhythm a bit? Bottom line you have to wonder if they should actually get any pay for this tour!

If you consistently underperformed in every area of your work, in any other profession, you'd be sacked. Stokes and Broad can come away with their heads held high, the rest should be fined and the money given to those fans who paid colossal amounts of money to watch them. Alycidon
A year ago we were about the best team in the world, thats with most of the same players that just got spanked 5-0. Loosing a key player with depression does not help, but like all good teams suddenly you find you need to rebuild. Used to have to do it frequently in my club cricket days when key players who had been coached since knee high disappear to Uni never to re appear. I dont really keep up with the county scene these day but feel that the large numbers on players from abroad holding key positions in county sides do hold back the development of our own talent. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, in Sept most of us would have agreed with the squad selection. A
