sixhills 69
The error in the above posts of 'genetic' for 'generic' is quite a good one. Bit like a virus reproducing itself everywhere ! That's the good thing about auto spell checking it picks the neatest word and changes it sorry I never noticed but I new what I on about shame others can't read there tickets or google the legal calibre's for shooting such animals. I wonder how some people get a licence in the first place

fruitloop
sorry I think I might have set this off .. but what was the nature of the question ?? was it as in what is the min legal chambering of rifle =.222 unless it is for humane dispatch. e.g. rta sick or injured personal equipment ?? authority to be on the land and to shoot the deer . It states for the shooting of animals to protect humans or other animals.I'm not sure if that would be lawful if a dog was attacking your sheep is more like it deer are wild and not livestock Edited January 24, 2014 by sixhills

Dekers
so how come i have 0.22 and 17hmr on my ticket but it states the lawful shooting of deer You are mixing a FAC comment with LAW. The Deer Act/Amendments outline the legal methods of shooting deer, Lawful shooting of Deer is therefore directed by the Deer Act. Your FAC simply says you can do what the Deer Acts says you can do! Luckyshot
Land Permission to shoot deer A FAC conditioned for deer .22 centre fire conditioned for deer with 50gr rounds Deer You would think so but not every fac has that on any more or atleast mine hasnt. My fac has no mention of vermin.fox.groundgame or deer for that matter but I am able to shoot all of the species mentioned under aolq. Redgum
Oh this site does put a smile on my face, 10acres of woodland will produce a Munty a week? Answering the original question, I would aim for a 243 variation, once you have it then you can shoot other species of deer in England. Most forces will grant that calibre for Munties though they may have a few hoops for you to satisfy their entertainment needs. Muntjac are a worthy quarry, tough, secretive and very tasty. Don't under estimate them though, small they might be but they are very good at surviving.
RAMMER BURT
i have muntjac in my garden to the dogs announce that i could shoot with a shootgun but i love to see them going about their buiness even with cars and lorries 50 yards away
