Leiopython
It came in the plastic case with the gun and it fits on my cleaning rod but I've no idea what it's used for? Curiosity finally got the better of me!

Westley
It is called a split jag. The idea is to wrap a cloth (or Bog roll) around it, after inserting one end into the 'split'. It then screws into the end of a standard cleaning rod and shoved through the gun barrel/s. They come in brass or, as you have, plastic. Leiopython
Thanks guys Is this something you all use religiously? I've always just used the brass wire one and the 'fluffy' one?
Paddy Galore!
you use this to keep the fluffy one clean it takes out all the dirt on the bog roll, the fluffy one is to put a light coat of oil down the barrel

berettadevon
if your out in the field and think your barrel/s could do with a quick clean then i would recommend getting a boresnake, with two or three pull throughs you will be left with clean barrel/s. but when i have returned home i will always give them a dam good clean with a cleaning rod. Will Poon
If you have stubborn marks in your barrels get some very fine wire wool and wrap it around that platsic jag and give the inside of the barrels a good prod, works a treat
Daz1986
i wrap a little flannelette in it with a little oil on and get it down the barrels and then use a dry piece to get excess oil off.

James_w12345
I used to use a wire brush attachment and cloth on a cleaning rod, but a few years ago I got a Hoppe's BoreSnake, its an all-in-1 pull through and works amazingly!! get one off ebay for about 10 quid in your gauge and save yourself a lot of time cleaning with rod! has integrated wire brush and soft area, just as effective as lots of scrubbing with a rod in my experience!!
