Elmer Fudd 1
i have a 22lr which is used for target shooting at a local club and hunting in the day, it is bolt action would i have problems applying for a 22lr semi auto for night shooting and target shooting i only ask because that would put me in possession of 2 guns of the same calibre
Kes
Its simple really - all you need is good reason. Plenty of people have .22 semi autos for controlling rabbit infestations eg Warrens and a single shot for isolated shooting. Talk to your feo and see. If you have a .22 already as you suggest and its on open cert, semi auto should not be a problem, just a lot of hassle.
Davyo
A lot of rabbit controller's have 2,one fitted with a day scope and one fitted with NV.As said previous, speak with your local office.

pmiddy
Like the others have already posted just put a letter in with your variation saying that you need a rifle of the same calibre and state that you want one for day shooting and one for night shooting , as at the moment you have to keep taking your scopes off and re-zero your rifles wither it be day or night so consequently you are waisting time and bullets swapping all the time That's all I did and got 2 x .22lrs and 2 x .17hmrs all bolt action Hope this helps paul Edited March 4, 2014 by pmiddy
welshwarrior
Until 2 years ago I had 3 22 LR Single shot Bolt action target rifle Semi auto day time bunny basher Bolt action with NV for night time use. Situation changed I don't shoot target now that seriously so the semi could do both, then got bored of paper punching full stop even if they looked like bad guys. So I now 1 22 and some cash in my pocket.

stubby
cheers guys the only reason i asked is because the law is a bit funny sometimes. probably best i ask the feo fudd no, you don't need to ask your fao, simply apply for a variation stating one is for target shooting and daytime pest control, the other is for a dedicated night vision scope, Edited March 9, 2014 by stubby
kent
no, you don't need to ask your fao, simply apply for a variation stating one is for target shooting and daytime pest control, the other is for a dedicated night vision scope, And you will end up with one conditioned and legal to use with that NV scope and one you cant use at night! Be very careful when wording things

Dekers
The bottom 3 are all .22lr and all conditioned for everything, the shortest has now gone, just left with 2 x .22lr, so getting 2 or more is not an issue if you have the right circumstances! Top is WMR, second is HMR Edited March 9, 2014 by Dekers
Therealchucknorris
I've got two .22lrs and I asked for them both for targets and vermin control. No stipulation as to which one for the targets or field. Just crack on, my force were sensible enough just pass them both without restricting one use for daytime or just range work. will_gleave
I have 4 .22 lr's on my ticket just applied and gave the same reason for all of them no questions asked. Edited March 9, 2014 by will_gleave

kent
You may, I didn't, and not many regions have the brains or inclination to write that, they just approve it! And some just word it as you as for it, the result is the same. Its like the traditional "fox while deer stalking" This effectively means no night shooting
stubby
And you will end up with one conditioned and legal to use with that NV scope and one you cant use at night! kent
again, I suppose it depends on the area, but mine are not, can be used anytime, anywhere Area might have a bearing but ultimately you must comply with that written on the cert, care is required in the wording
