Will Poon
The situation is this I'll probably feel a plonker after posting this, I've an ESP reg shoot tomorrow at my usual place Catton hall. I've won my class since January and so of course I want to make it a hatrick tomorrow BUT I don't have my sporter to use only my trap gun which i use for DTL, it's heavy and longer and have tighter chokes that I'm use to. I did practise a lot with it at sealand shooting club last Tuesday with plenty of skeet, ABT and sporting layout I did ok ish So do I risk using it tomorrow and make an absolute fool of myself and risk lowering my average scores by going in guns blazing Or simply give it a miss Edited March 23, 2014 by Willpoon
Hamster
Use the gun you are comfortable with, physically and mentally.
Westley
Nah...............Give it a miss, come to Webton and use my Moroku, then you won;t even have a gun to clean when you get home !
Will Poon
I'm comfortable with my sporter and trap gun but I've never done a 100 ESP Reg shoot with my trap gun Nah...............Give it a miss, come to Webton and use my Moroku, then you won;t even have a gun to clean when you get home ! Now there's an idea
Westley
Problem is, go and shoot with your trap gun, make a balls of things and then spend the rest of the year trying to get it all back together again. Your decision.

figgy
Do as your coach says. It's nut behind the butt that counts. So what its a tarp gun look how many people shoot them fully adjustable raised rib sporters and do well with them. Tight chokes more dust. Ttfjlc
*trap just before anybody asks what a "tarp" gun is
100milesaway
Your Auntie shot with an 8lb,32" half/ half choke Mirokui trap mk38 for 10 years and it didn't do her any harm. You could just shoot better with it and surprise yourself from Auntie.
shaun4860
I don't do registered but would one score really affect you for the whole year?

dashman1
Averages mean nothing shoot easy targets at same grounds regular anyone can get averages up does not mean you are improving atb
Will Poon
I hear what your saying dashman, but I'm not fortunate enough to have the luxury of travelling to various other grounds for reg comps as work beckons Any way please remind me not to use my trap gun for sporting uses next time should have stayed in bed. What I learnt today was 3/4 choke is not a very forgiving choke you have to be bloody accurate with it. Mind you on the plus side it did only cost me £2.00 for the reg shoot and I met some of the PW northern shooters for the charity bash magman , maglad and shoot and be safe plus our captain Mr Potter was somewhere around. Part of team norgas were there as well, nice to have a chat with them when I can 67 ex 100 before anyone asks
