ianb4310
Hi me and my my 12 yr old son are beginners only been about 5 times so whys and what for's are all new We've been to hayton castle farm today and in the main everyone is very helpful and even offers pointers to help we were shooting singles to help us get into it we were choosing stands where no one was so we didn't hold people up Half way through a stand a group of about 8-9 came up to our stand anyhow after we finished and walked away Lee the owner came over to me and said that the group was complaining about us shooting singles ! I'm sure they were beginners once so little parlance shown was very disappointing
MartynGT4
I'd ignore it if I were you, we all had to start somewhere and in any case waiting behind a large group shooting pairs can be just as frustrating yet few complain about that
welshwarrior
I quite agree they are fools. Would you complain if one of their guns jammed up with a live cartridge in it and you had to way for them to sort it out no. If novices are allowed a little time or made welcome no one will start shooting so in a 100 years time our sport will be dead and gone. Novices and especially youngsters are our future. I bet if you watched them there prob not good shots either. Don't let them put you off.. And good luck and enjoy
chady
If you want to wind them up pull the clays the opera it way round!! I've been moaned at for that before!!!! End of the day it's not a registered or comp it's called practice!! You paid for them so shoot them how you like :)
HDAV
Out of interest you say "shooting singles" were you shooting the pair one at a time? But shooting the allotted number ie 10 total each stand? If so you were taking no longer than a group of 4, groups of 6+ are pita IMO they jam up the stand generally act like they own the place and can be obnoxious. If you have been 5 times already I would think (without seeing you shoot) you are probably ready to start tackling pairs on report if not sim. ianb4310
We are just starting to shoot on report did the last 3 stands but it was the fact they didn't have the guts to say anything to us Yes we were only shooting 8 singles
Gordon R
Shame on them. Their perceived beef was with you so they sneaked to the owner behind your back. Ignore them. 99.9% of shooters are helpful people, but like any sport or walk of life - there are those who are less so.
matone
Cheers it didn't put us off just a bit sad really it was like they expected to go straight on the stand Well they will be very special people you know, their type do proliferate at the clays sadly ! Ignore them and find a more accomodating ground if the owner doesn`t help you .

fruity
Hope it dont put you off just ignore them , had a similar thing yesterday at a ground , I'm teaching my wife to shoot and she struggles with distance loopers So her go she shot just the loopers (2nd bird) not the 1st bird (going away ) One of the group of guys behind shouts nice and loud, no wonder some of the traps keep emptying people are not shooting both birds on a stand

To be clear I've never found new shooters to be frustrating and neither has anyone I've ever shot with, far from it in fact. It's always nice to see the sport growing! Enjoy yourself and don't be afraid to ask questions on here

Guest cookoff013
idiots are everywhere. i hope the ground owner / manager told them to "stuff it" every shot is a single shot, its just on pairs or on report that they are close together. there is no point banging off shells willy-nilly, that achieves nothing but expensive noise. the best practice / learning is one shot at a time, especially for beginners. Westward
waiting behind a large group shooting pairs can be just as frustrating yet few complain about that Absolutely! Groups of more than 4 can be a pain for everyone else and the person in charge of the shoot should ask them to split into 2 or 3 smaller squads. Anyone who objects to being held up by novices learning the ropes should be reminded to think back to when they were starting out.
