Hi All,

Im off to Penzance for a week at the end of June and wondered if there is anything (as a shooter) i should visit, like good clay ground's / Shops / or if anyone wants to invite me for a shoot... if the Mrs lets me :-)

All recommendations welcome.

The Vineyard sounds like a plan, ill have a look for that, Im sure the Mrs will enjoy it!

However i don't fish.... not that i can't or won't but just that i have only ever been fishing once and just dont have any kit / rods etc. I thinks its one of those things that i am saving for later to be honest as i did enjoy it when i went a couple of years ago with a mate but its all time dependant and i have had alot of hobbies over the years! Plus Sea fishing is pretty expensive considering we are trying to save for a house lol

If someone knows a place i could hire some kit and sit down for an afternoon with the Mrs and Dog that could be a good option though??

Not worth hiring kit mate - could buy all you need for spinning / feathering for mackerel or bass for less than £20

Penzance, one of the last hippy towns left in UK!

St Just & Cape Cornwall, well worth a visit, see if you can spot the rock offshore that looks like General DeGaul in the bath.

Park (early) at Sennen Cove & walk over the cliffs to Lands End, fantastic views and wild birds.

Born and raised there. Best food is the waterside meadery near the harbour.try the cornish wines there but be careful as the make your legs wobble.

best pasties is philps in hayle and Marazion. Best icecream is jelberts in Newlyn near the bridge. And if you havent been there before then you absolutely have to visit the minack theatre

If you are going to buy fish then go to the small vendors in newlyn up near the stream, go from pz into newlyn and cross the little bridge then hang a right. They are about 200 m up on the left.

I will be there in 2 weeks and I cant wait.

ps it's pronounced mowzul.

The Logan rock inn at treen is one of my favourite pubs, good drinks and food. Proper pub!! The tinners arm at zennor is also lovely. If you do get a rod there's a brilliant mark to fish from by pendeen lighthouse, some scrambling involved mind, lamorna cove is nice also and has good fishing. I'm going myself in June and can't wait, I love Cornwall

Thanks for the info. I have been to St Micheals Mount before so will be popping over there again.

Small world ennet my 'ansum - I went to Cape Cornwall County Secondary school, and lived at 22 Cape Cornwall Street, St Just. :)

I just took a look at our old house with Google street view and see that the neighbouring Sheila's general store is now a dwelling.

I'd also advocate parking in St Just, walking down to Cot Valley, take the coastal path to Cape Cornwall then back up to the car. Those rocks someone referred to are the Brisons - pronounced the Brizuns. I used to go Bassing at Gwenver - and mackerel fishing off Aire Point.

A bamboo cane with some cotton and a hook made out of a dolly pin or needle will produce some great kiddy time around the small rock pools fishing for tiny bullards below the high water marks when the tide is out, Limpets scraped off a rock for bait.

Seconded about Phillps pasties - Warrens were a close second.

Non-emmet. :)

No shooting shops in penzance centre from what I remember. Usually go penzance every year.

Have to recommend falmouth for shopping which isnt too far.

There is a few good vintage shops/antiques in penzance centre.

Oh and fill up at tescos on the way back it's the cheapest place ;)
