Wa02ger
Hi all, I am looking at getting my first magnet to use while pigeon shooting. I have found this on the auction site that we all know and love. If anyone could take a brief look and give me any advice on what to look out for and if it looks any good I would be much appreciated. The item number is: 111357555314. Thank you for your help in advance, Matt
aga man
Yes mate that will do the job. there are others perhaps cheaper but it looks like you get the battery with it too so not bad. Might be worth checking with the supplier if you need a special charger to re charge the battery. presuming it's this one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111357555314?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D111357555314%26_rdc%3D1#ht_435wt_961
Wa02ger
Nice one, thanks for your time 'aga man'. I have sent them an email to enquire about the charger. Once again, thank you.
fenboy
It looks ok , the four spike base can be handy in wet ground but they can be a pain to get into hard ground . It is worth considering the ukshootwarehouse standard one , though you will need to add a battery ,I recently brought one and it seems a decent enough magnet. if you phone and order you also get 5% off or 10% if you spend over £100 for being a PW member. http://www.ukshootwarehouse.com/pigeon-magnet-standard-rotary-machine. la bala
As fenboy said, 4 spikes maybe ok in the winter, but they could be a pain in the summer, i have had problems getting 3 spikes in hard ground.

rich1985
Keep thing simple! I've shot good bags with and without all the modern witch craft! 99 times out of a 100 now I just take hide and poles, dozen real decoys, gun, cartridges, seat and dog. Spending time and making a good hide is half the battle won. Yes magnets and flappers etc have a place in the shooting world but I personally think there over rated. Give it ago, keep things simple! You never know you might like it!

You never know you might like it! I agree totally, far too much gear these days, im guilty as everyone else, you get drawn into this idea that you wont get much unless you have half a ton of equipment, just half a dozen deeks , placed well, then add all shot birds to the pattern set up on sticks cut from the hedgerow, even a couple of floaters can be mounted on hedgerow sticks, its more about how you set out than what you set out, if the birds are in a feeding mood they will come, just make sure your hide is right, even with the best decoy set up if you are not invisible to the incoming birds you will struggle to get any decent results. rich1985
Totally correct, get the field craft correct you will kill pigeons, simple. Don't get me wrong some situation needs a bit of help with the mod cons but I very rarely use them. My top bags of woods been taken the simple old fashioned way. Beretta06
I probably have every device ever made!! Most are to catch the shooter, not the pigeons!!!! Personal experience is that most rotaries are ok. A1 iDecoys is good, UK Shoot Warehouse is good, Pinewood is good, even Decoying.co. uk has been good to me. Paul Hart I wouldn't touch again with a dirty stick. Only based on personal experiences. So, I have it all, but the most successful days for me tend to be just decoys, a good hide and fieldcraft. rich1985
Correct! A good hide is half the battle, I spend up to an hour building a proper good hide, it's no good just chucking a net over some poles and standing behind it thinking all is going to be good! Build your own magnet if you do want 1 they are easy enough to make and will save you a few quid!
shootnfish
Works for me chucking a net over a few poles weather its against a hedge under a tree or in the middle of a field takes 5mins. Most important thing i think is putting it in the right place not if its a few poles with a net chucked over it that took 5mins or a master piece that's taken an hour. pigeonblasterian
I got my rotary off Paul Hart.Well made and tough with three prongs which helps to keep it firm in the ground. Never had a problem getting it into hard or frozen ground.
