Topgunners
After our monstrous bag last weekend, I have had a mega busy week. I went back onto the same fields and shot 119, 148 and thursday I was on 102 and thinking of packing up, when I got a phone call from Pw member Tim asking me how I was doing. I told him I had a great day and he asked me could he join me for an hour or so. He arrived within 15 minutes and we were banging the pigeons with the discer in the same field. We had to move the flapper and magnet in and out 3 times while he cut round us. Ended up on 136 pigeons. Total week so far 403 pigeons Friday, we all went to the CLA, Wow it was mega hot and after walking round for 8 hours on crutches it was hard work. Bought some new toys and couldn't wait to try them out Saturday. SATURDAY The boys went out early morning on the crows and shoot 76. Then they moved on looking for pigeons. I had found a lot flighting about on the rape stubble and setup. The boys had split up. 2 on some pigeons and 2 on some more crows. I had shot 30 and then the horrendous THUNDERSTORM hit me. I was hanging on to my umbrella and the hide for grim death for about 25 minutes. The farmer drove over right in the middle of it to see if I was alright. He said I must be mad and I think I must agree. I just couldn't make it quick enough back to the jeep on my crutches, hobbling through the stubble. After the thunderstorm passed by I carried on shooting and ended up with 41. After a quick call to Alan I told them where we must go on Sunday. Total 96 crows 81 pigeons 1 magpie SUNDAY We arrived back at the farm this morning and a few pigeons were present. We split up in 2 hides and the boys starting hitting them from the off. It was slow for me and Alan at first but then it picked up and we shot steady all day. The sun in my hide was in front of me all day and was I sweating, Too true; it was bloody roasting but the bag was worth it. Total 257 pigeons. WEEKS total 741 pigeons 96 crows 1 Magpie Another brilliant week. Had heatwaves, gale force winds, thunderstorms, a game fair and some cracking shooting.
