JimLondon
Hello all Do any of you knowledgable people know how to remove old sticker glue from the rear window without ruining the heated window element. Or am I being thick and should just go at it with thinners etc. Thanks in advance Jim
Dunkield
Depending on what it is made from thinners might melt it Jim, my first try would be alcohol. The answer to many a question I know, but in this case...

neil w
Wurth industrial cleaner work's well . Also cellulose thinner will do the job but don;t let it seep onto rubber seals .

Twistedsanity
Petrol will remove anything sticky (but also ruin car paint) . I tried all of the above to remove glue from my car paintwork recently and they were all a massive fail , in the end white spirits were the best but there is a very small time window between the glue becoming removable and the spirits evaporating leaving it hard again, wd40 and sticky stuff remover (available from b n poo) were worse than useless but the glue had been holding the graphics on my car for 17 years so it was pretty well part of the car , I still have more to get off :-(
955i
Lighter fluid is great for getting it off
JimLondon
Ok gang I went for Tar remover from halfords purely because it was closest, and it worked a treat!! Thanks for all the input guys
four-wheel-drive
If the glue has set completely hard for a long time there is then there is not much that will remove or melt it I had this problem with some masking tape I put on a plastic door frame it was about five years later when I got around to decorating the portch could I get that bloody stuff off nothing would budge it I gave up and painted over it in the end I still say for most glues the sticky stuff remover will do the job.
