lloydi73
Well, after finally getting my FAC through two weeks ago and purchasing my 17HMR, finally got it zeroed in, took it out on to the permission Tuesday night for a spot of bunny bashing. To say it was the best night ever is the understatement of the year. After standing watching one of the fields for 5/10mins, two pigeons were sat on the telephone wires. Watching them through the scopes form 80ft, it was killing me not to be able to take the shot (up in the air a big no no). To my total amasement and joy, one of the pigeons literally jumped off the wire and landed right under the line. Careful aim was taken, breath held, bang, straight through the neck, one for one!! Stood there for another 45 mins, out popped 6 rabbits over a period of time, 5 for 6.....boy was I on cloud nine!! Went up top fields and took another 5..........Total for the night 10 for 12...... Looking forward to going lamping now next week with me good old buddy Steve..... I was never a fan of thumbhole butts (ooo er!!), but I have to say, I have the 455 varmint TH 20" barrel, and it fits like a glove. Even Steve said he wasn't a fan of TH, but after mounting the gun he said it felt excellent. I can't recommend this gun highly enough for the money. Not sure I've got the right scope, Leupold V1, but it's sure great fun. ATB Lloydi

jimmyb79
Can't go wrong with a CZ. When I first got my hmr, I went with a Sako quad but just couldn't get on with it at all as it just wouldn't group no matter what I did. In the end lost all confidence with it and bought. CZ 452 as I prefer a synthetic stock. Just love shooting it as they're so accurate! Nice rifle!

Uncle Albert
I have the same gun (CZ455 Thumbhole) only in .22 cal. They shoot beautifully and mine has already accounted for a large number of bunnies. It sits beautifully in the hand and is quiet.
oxfordfowler
You carry on shooting like that Lloyd and Steve will have to go somewhere else - there will be nothing left for him to have a pop at Well done mate. Be seeing you. OXF

At long last, only took 10 weeks ..........As soon as I got it through, hads it 2 days, had to send it back!! They only cleared me for deer on 243 and not deer and other legal ground quarry, phoned them and they said straight away it was wrong. That was Monday, here we are on Friday and still not returned!! Hope it comes back soon as running low on ammo ...How you getting on, what riffles did you buy in the end?

lloydi73
What did you do with the rabbits and pigeon? Gave them to a friend who sells them to his local butcher £2 each he gets, has to be head shots. Rabbit, it appears, is becoming popular again for the table.....well, out here in the sticks anyway......2 were shot in back, so left them for Mr Fox!! mick miller
That's the perfect answer, nothing is better, in my opinion, than shooting and then making good use of what you shoot. You should try the rabbit yourself, Normandy rabbit is delicious and pigeon breast likewise, very easy to prepare pigeon breast too.

In the end I got an FAC air and a CZ .22lr I am debating now on getting an HMR although the amount of use the FAC air is getting I am tempted to upgrade that as I am using it loads at the moment. I thought about going for an FAC air rifle, I had the Daystate Wolverine in mind, but then I used my friends 17HMR 455 as well, and no turning back:) Well hope you're having great fun and getting plenty of bunny bashing in......
