Scully
I don't know, but I aint paying 17 quid to find out. No doubt it will explain in detail in the book, but unless I've missed something, from that article they have identified Jack from the DNA of the blood of one of his victims? How does that work? Kes
how do they make the DNA comparison with a man already dead who left no samples? Chased a relative and borrowed some? Good publicity stunt for the book and the author who, " after fourteen years an employee of JJcats, was made redundant on 16th august 2014 - he is a quick writer". loriusgarrulus
From what I could read, the claim is there was the victims blood and anothers blood on the shawl. Theorising here as not totally sure on this: They could isolate the blood that was from the male and do a DNA profile on it. The DNA profile could then be checked against current relatives of the original suspect to find a near match. If there was blood from a male on the shawl it might not have been from the Ripper but from another customer of the victim so still not definative evidence unless they had something else. I believe forensics are now going back through old crime evidence and DNA profiling samples and putting them in a Database in case any matches come up in some countries. Nobody could write a decent book since middle of August and arrange to have it published now. He must have already been preparing it in his spare time for quite a while. bruno22rf
An item of clothing belonging to one of Jack the Kippers victims eh?bet that increased its value somewhat-and what a stroke of luck that, in over one hundred years, it never got washed and that the victim was not the only person to have bled on it. BTW-I have Jacks mobile phone for sale if anyone is interested?
Badgerpig
did the women murdered not know each other and "work" together in a small area of London? if the DNA is accurate could he not have been a customer? from what I read his DNA was found in semen on items of clothing
spinach
Interesting radio 4 program with the scientist who did the science bit. He wasn't as certain as the author or the publishing house, and had wanted to release in a more scientific form to be peer reviewed but he was only doing the work, neither was another forensic scientist but it's amazing. If you stand next to an article of clothing for ten minutes your DNA will be on it. John.
