figgy
Just been on the news, France has for the first time sent jets in to fire at targets within Iraq. About time the rest of Europe grew a pair and started fighting back against this extreme terrorism. Figgy

shaun4860
Thing is, France is one of the countries that actually pays ransoms to release hostages. Things like that give the terrorists hope that everyone would pay. Sad as it may be I'm in the no negotiating camp, it encourages more hostage taking

JDog
The pair that France has grown are 'falsies'. Their efforts and offers, as usual, are all smoke and mirrors. Let's see where they are in a months time when this government is up to it's neck in it.
Kes
I'm a firm no negotiating - happy to double the strength of the SAS and up their arms budget to respond to such extremism. Send them in and look the other way. In truth they are probably already there - lets hope they find the leaders because whilst the reminder of ISIS are killers they act like sheep. No place in a modern world for some people.

Brooksy789
Im in the No camp to ransom money being paid also. Its a sad fact that the more we give in to these terrorist the more we are loosing the war. Not only does it give them more incentive to kidnap more british nationals it also funds them to become better equiped when it comes to fire power! kdubya
re the title France has finally grown a pair! fact is they always had them, they have the 3rd biggest armed force in the world and have over 300 nuclear weapons, plus this little bit of fact Since 387 BC, France has fought 168 major wars against such badasses as the Roman Empire, the British Army and the Turkish forces. Their track record isn't too shabby, either: They've won 109, lost 49 and drawn (or as close as you can "draw" a war) 10 times. Professional boxers have been crowned world champions on ****tier records than that. And while it is true that France surrendered to Germany relatively early in WWII, that was only because they hadn't picked themselves up after WWI yet. And WWI (despite being an entire "I" lower) wasn't exactly an anemic playground chickenfight--the French suffered about 5.7 million casualties (the war killed or wounded an incredible 37 million people worldwide). So yes, the next time around they let the Germans take over officially, but they never actually stopped fighting: the French resistance was one of the most enduring symbols of Nazi opposition in Europe. The resistance was the originator of the archetypal trench coat wearing merchants of bloody death you see in countless action movies and video games today. They blew up bridges, staged daring night raids, slit German throats while generally looking fantastic (if a little ennui-stricken) while doing it. figgy
Should be a bit more like the Israelis never forget or forgive and hunt them down till every last one is found and dealt with. Flashman
Hollande only did this to draw attention away from his domestic disasters. However, regardless of the reasons it's nice to pay terrorists back in kind.
