Evening all .

Well got a call from a farmer last night asking if I would go look at some wheat drillings, they were drilled about a week ago but over past few days the crows have found it, anyway I said I would take a look this morning, I got there about 9 am, however from what I could see the birds seemed to be more interested in the voluntary crop around the headlands. I was set up and ready to go by 10 am ( after a few coffees and a scan around the fields , as I had never shot there before ) the weather has been really weird , one minute rain , next wind / cloudy , then more of the same . but that said there was movement in the air and Once the birds found me they started to decoy ok, I used my usual crow set up of 8 full body decoys, and just add to a random pattern with the dead birds as the day went on.
Regards cartridges ….. Well I had a bag of odds and **** that I have kicking about, and was looking for an excuse to use them up, it was defiantly a case of the Good the Bad and the ugly! .
Anyway I Had a great day even though thurs/fri I had the worst case of man flu ever recorded in the history of mankind,

Finished up with a mixed bad of 76

71 Carrion / Rooks / jackdaws
1 woodie
4 feral

Here's a bit of footage from the day ,

Regards

Great shooting!

Was that a roof on your hide? And do you got out after you've shot them to set them up as decoys or just leave them as they lie?

if im crow shooting I always have a roof on my hide ( always have done ) , as for dead birds , if they drop in my pattern right way up I will just leave them for a bit , if not I will go sort them out , another thing I do , is about every hours or so , I will go and move the pattern about a bit , just so it looks different from above ( but that's just me ) not too much but just enough .

I've never heard about the moving the pattern about every hour but it makes sense, corvids have got to be some of the smartest birds about and they've figured me out. I need to get another net as at moment I only have enough to do the sides, so they can see right in.

regards moving the pattern about . im not saying that its something you need to do , I just do it , as in my head it makes sense , weather it does or not in the real world ............. who knows haha but it works for me , I like many on here have been shooting crows corvids for yrs and im sure we all have our own little things we like to do .
