fieldwanderer
Fascinating, bet a slow motion video would look good. Reminds me of the only experience I have of shooting b.p. I was given some b.p. shotgun cartridges by a friend who'd been given them but didn't dare to use them. First shot was at a pigeon BWOOOOMPH! To this day I still don't know if it was a hit or not but I stayed where I was and the farmer's son came running over to me "are you o.k!?" Then, glancing at the cloud of smoke drifting across the field in the near non existent wind "I thought your gun had blown up!!"
demonwolf444
They are bloody good gun was shooting walked up rats with mine last night. Perfectly safe to use, though if your decoying on a field where there is laid straw your wadding could ignite it, but it would be unlucky. clayboster
to be honest when shooting you dont see the fireball, its just captured on slo mo, its safe to use as no burned bits land on the floor and its quite clean burning, unless you use slow burning home made powder (not reccomended and i think not legal to make?), the boom of black powder beats the pop of nitro hands down too, lots of smoke does attract a lot of attention from other club users, and quarry is gone for the day, but once you shoot black powder...you never look back, p.s. fieldwanderer...if you do use b.p cartridges remember to wash your barrells and lube well as b.powder residue is very corrosive when burned. Yeah, was always very careful to clean up well. Didn't take long to decide it wasn't the best idea in my s/a though spent ages cleaning up (it's not just the barrel on those) and the soot stank. They killed really well though and with very light recoil

No kidding about the BOOM of black powder. Went shooing with my father in law on a range near Salisbury, most guys firing .22 apart from by father in law with one of his black powder rifles (not sure on calibre). First shot shook the condensation off the tin roof where they shoot from. Have to wait 5 seconds to see what the shot placement is like but great fun. clayboster
theyll have been breeding like mad while you werent there , keep your trousers tucked into your socks lol. had 139 rats, mostly bigguns, quite a few "in pig" females amongst em, we worked out the other day that weve had about 6.5-7,000 rats over the past 12 months.and we havent even took the top off em yet.
