I spent the day with Trevor on Friday..... what a top bloke. As my first time pigeon shooting, Trevor was good enough to spend the whole day with me showing me how and where to set up magnets, floaters and hides, watching and understanding flight lines and taking into account wind direction plus lots more I even got an introduction into deer stalking by identifying deer tracks while we set up our magnets.

As with any kind of pest control a no show is always possible and with the temperatures in the high 20's the pigeons, like us, were hiding in the shade of the trees, depite this I learnt so much from my first visit that I will most definitely be back and am confident that with the knowledge gained and doing the right prep, a decent days shooting will follow.

Thanks Trevor thanks.gif.pagespeed.ce.8dph9GhVFt.gif

The heat is no reason for the pigeons not to turn up. Sounds like you were not placed on the correct field. How many did you end up shooting?

An appreciative post which is good to see. However an experienced decoyer may have made more of the situation.

It sounds as though you had an interesting day, even if you did not have a big bag. :good:

When its really hot the birds can seem to disappear through the middle of the day, but thats when you can often get a result by being there into the late afternoon/early evening.

Have to agree with all of the above....'hitting the tramlines hard' they can't have been, regardless of the heat which is a shame for you both.

The two best bags I've had over the last month were on the two hottest days I went out, but then again the pigeons were intent on using that particular field and would have done come rain or shine.

Take no notice of idiotic replys trev I have shot there 4 times with you and yes some good days and some not so good but hey that's pigeon shooting for yA it's not all about big bags

Idiotic reply? How so? If you're happy to be paying to shoot very little then fair enough. If I charged to take someone shooting I would certainly give a full refund if I didn't produce the goods.
