kyska
Hi All Would a 'normal' slot for a calibre allow a double barrelled rifle?
Scully
Ooh, that's a good question. Does your slot state action type, as in over and under or side by side? If it states bolt action it may require a variation. Not sure if a 1 for 1 applies to slots unfilled. It will be interesting to find out. Sorry I can't help; one for your shooting org' possibly. littlerob
Thats intrested and as some double rifles are two different cal. Some times for instance 22lr and 20g or 223and .22lr
Underdog
I had combination guns on my licence as 22 hornet/12g. Only guessing but think a double rifle would be worded as is, eg;404 double rifle.
Dougy
Action may be put on your ticket ie, "bolt action" , If by any chance you just have lets say "30 calibre" then I would guess you may have a double rifle. Now bare in mind I am not a RFD or work for BASC so I could be wrong. If you need to know for sure ask your RFD if FEO, or if your in BASC ask them. Why are you going for a double, Dangerous game ? kyska
There is no 'action', just the calibre. It's an academic question really, not worked out how to put a scope on a sxs rifle😄 I had combination guns on my licence as 22 hornet/12g. Only guessing but think a double rifle would be worded as is, eg;404 double rifle. That sounds delicious I had combination guns on my licence as 22 hornet/12g. CharlieT
Never owned one, but as vacant slots do not state action or barrel configuration I would say yes you can. There is a nice 30.06 for sale at Swillington that looks tempting

It's an academic question really, not worked out how to put a scope on a sxs rifle😄 Quarter rib works well or have claw mounts fitted. If you have 308 rifle for example with no action type I see no reason not to sell you a 308 double rifle.
Scully
There is no 'action', just the calibre. That's good then, and in that case I don't see why not. A .30-06 double does sound nice, I must admit. I'm assuming it has folding leaf sights at present? Would make a cracking deer rifle.
CharlieT
I know..... Just don't be too tempted as looking at http://www.newenglandcustomgun.com/Gun_Services/search.asp?CI=279&ST=German%20Clawit would seem that a mounting system would be around $1500 .00. Underdog
I would resist scoping it. You may be surprised just how well you could shoot it, especially if it fits you!
Dougy
Not enough fire power for me on driven Boar, I need at least 4 bangs. ;-)
kent
As said if you have a slot for a bolt action I recon it needs changing. For a combo gun I recon the shotgun and rifle parts as they are one should be held on FAC but I should speak to your shooting org then you licencing dept. likewise if it was say .222 and 7x57 etc one slot for a two calibre gun? Underdog
I told you earlier sir. A combination gun is entered as: rifle cal/ shotgun gauge. My combination guns were listed as ; 22Hornet/12g, 22mag/20g.
mowdy
Hi All Would a 'normal' slot for a calibre allow a double barrelled rifle? All That I had on my fac for my 9.3mm was 9,3mm . When I bought my double rifle the dealer that did the transfer to me wanted to ring Cumbria firearms licensing to double check that it was ok and they said yes that was just last year. Cumbria Flo did know that I was after either a 9.3mmx74r or 9.3mm x 62 when I put in my renewal . very straight forward and simple to do in Cumbria.
