just had the locals witnesses round trying to conver the street, and handing out the watchtower, why can they just accept it when u say no, they were giving out leaflets about the biggest killers, disease wise, first time i have ever seen a jehovas with compassion was when dad refused it on the basis that his wife, my mother, had just died of the top killer on there list, cancer.

sometimes they just dont get the point, only time ive been fairly scared in my own house was when i was about 9 and a group of them came round the close and were putting there foot in the door if u tried to close it, when i saw this happen on the other side of the road, i just didnt open it

evem though the radio was on full, i think they knew i was in there.

An auzzie mate of mine put an end to all that round his house. Being fairly shameless he simply stripped and answered the door but naked, inviting them in for a cuppa.

this tatic only started after i was pushed over the edge. the other half always got onto me after slamming the door in there face's, she said i was rude, and if i listened and then said no thanks, they wouldn't bother us again :( , i did stand and listen, and when i said no, they told me i had wasted there time:blink: , that was it, i snapped. They didn't stay around once i got started and i've never seen that couple again

While out walking my dogs with my dad we were stopped by two young JW's and they started with their speil, well my dad just turned everything around and after 20mins they walked off totally confused with their mission in life, it was fab to see them turn from being so positive to walking away bewildered

I studied with Jehovas Witnesses for quite a while and found them GOOD PEOPLE!

 

How many Jehovas witnesses steal cars or burgle houses? How many hang about on street corners swearing and drinking?

 

They beleive they are doing whay they were told to do by the good book and spreading the word etc. Just tell them NO THANKS and please don't return and the major part will leave you in peace.

 

When i was going through a very bad chapter in my life they were the ONLY people who showed compassion and stood by me helping me through the days till i got back on top. They were Polite respectful truthful honest people and it's just a shame the majority of Christians and Catholics aren't as nice to others as these people were to me!

 

I would rather have a street full of Jehovas witnesses than some of the rabble i have living in my area

 

They come round MY area now and then trying to spread the word and i invite them in for Tea and a chat and often this lasts an hour or more. I can have a Healthy debate with these people and i think they enjoy the exchanges of points of view.

 

I know they have their quirks but then so do ALL religious bodies.

 

The Blood transfusion one I beleive is because according to the bible the Blood is the soul to the body!

 

They CAN however have a PLASMA transfusion i beleive instead of blood which in most cases is just as succesful in saving lifes.

 

Lets face it with all the CJD and AIDS contaminated blood it shows it has SOME merit!

 

I am not saying Blood transfusions are bad as I am NOT a jehovas Witness but i DO show them Respect and this in all the cases i have been involved with has been reciprocated.

 

If your having a Bad experience with them then simply call into the local Kingdom hall and explain you don't want anyone to call and even go as far as putting a POLITE notice on your gate "no canvassers or religious bodies"

 

In all fairness I think they are a mis understood religious group trying to do what they beleive is their role in life.

LG's quite right. I have a couple of JW's working for me and without a doubt, they're hard working, honest people. If I ask one a question, I know I'll get a straight answer. If they phone in sick, it's because they're sick. If everyone that worked for me was as honest, life would be much easier.

 

 

 

When I get a visit from anybody pendling religion I am always polite and tell them I not interested. If they press and ask about the rest of the house, I tell them that the wife and I are both "practicing Atheists' ", that's normally enough to see them on their way.

 

 

 

However; if they are too dense or ignorant to take the hint and beat a retreat at this point, then it's time to ask if their religion has the answer's to all of life's questions? And if so; what has their bible got to say about dinosaurs? That usually concludes the end game!

i'm with lg all the way on this one , i have a family member and several friends that are jw's , they are the most honest polite and straight forward people you'll ever come across , they'll help anyone regardless of their past history but once in the fold you're expected to live up to their very high standards , if you're dodgy , you're out , they are one of the only religious groups that appear not to be hypocrites (wich is more than i can say for any other religion),has anyone ever heard of a jw church leader ******** a choirboy? , my concience sp would never let me withold blood products from a child in need but as lg said plasma is pretty much as good afaik, in a lot of ways i do agree with their religion but i could never(much to my shame) live up to the high standards of morality that are required , i never have any problem with them at the door , i normally just offer them a cup of tea(usually declined) and take whatever literature they're handing out.

to the guys that are knocking them , next time they're at your door , take five minutes to ask them a few questions.

My philosophy is if they want to bat for the other team then thats fine with me as long as they leave the kissing etc till they get home. I dislike explaining to my 11 year old Son WHY 2 men are kissing in the town centre

 

Our religion told us (man should not lay with another man) though because of the PC brigade this is NOW unacceptable to preach as it is deemed as intolerance. It seems even our Bible is not safe from PC affairs.

 

I find Gay (be they male OR female) kissing in public to be offensive. What they do at home is up to them as long as i am not confronted by it when i walk round a street corner.

 

I have a Gay friend (Darren) who is one of the FUNNIEST guys i have had the pleasure to meet and after a few drinks is always the life of the party He sits with his partner and holds hands but never kisses in public.

 

I have been brought up to beleive it's morally wrong and unacceptable but as i say Having a Gay friend put's new angles on that. He never harrasess me and as i say is a real nice bloke. I have known him since he was 3 as we were neighbours for over 15 years before he moved and even then he only moved to the back of the estate so we kept in touch.

 

He came out when he was about 23 which i HAVE to admit was a shock to quite a few people but I did have an inkling he wasn't interested in Women.

 

All in all I have no real problems with what they do in private or with their choice of sexuality i just don't want myself or my Son to have to encounter their frolocking while going about our Day!

My aunt was a JW and when we were kids nothing gave the old b**tard more pleasure than to drop us in the doo-doo. She hated everything, from children to Christmas, and if she couldn’t find anything to tell about us she simply made it up, the lying conniving old $^$&%&.

When my kids were a bit younger we moved into a house not far from a family of JWs and they were the most snidey bunch of shysters you could ever wish not to meet. They didn’t believe in Christmas, but she made sure that they were first in line for anything that happened to be going. She was a single parent and was claiming everything going whilst her boyfriend lived with her. He was working and with all the fiddle they were getting more than twice as much as I was working all the hours that God sent. When she came around with the pamphlet and started to try and preach the way of Jehovah I just lost it and told her to ****-off and try living without stealing from the state.

She honestly couldn’t see what she was doing wrong, and tried to excuse her self by saying that she was a single parent and NEEDED the extra money to make ends meet. Apparently her family, which consisted of herself, her boyfriend and three kids, needed more money than me, my wife and three kids because she was a single parent.

Jehovas Witnesses I know DO have a christmas of a kind! It's called Toy day IIRC a day BEFORE or AFTER the 25th where they get toys etc so they are not dissed at School when asked what they got over the christmas holidays!

 

It's to do with their philosophy possibly along the ( you shouldn't pray to a false idol ) line?

 

When you look into OUR Christmas as we know it it is actually more a Pagan tree festival with the Birth of christ and some other festivities of unknown orogin thrown in for good measure.

 

Christmas to christians should NOT be about the giving and receiving of Presents but the celebration of the Birth of Christ and nothing more yet this has now been capitolised upon for many companies to make Money and also NOW on Sundays which were Sabbath as even GOD rested on the Sunday yet NOW we make MORE money on this day

 

Money is the route to all evil yet in CHURCH now they hand round the Bowl for a collection

 

I guess Jehovas Witnesses are a lot like other religions we CAN'T tar them ALL with the same brush though there may be a few rotten apples!
