KFC
We buy eggs in trays of 30 from a local farm. So far the first five that we've used have all been double yokers. Never known that before.
TaxiDriver
Used to get a few now and again from our garden kept chickens, Think it's something that happens with younger crooks that are freshly into lay, settles down after a while
felly100
They are normally from young layers.

Lord Geordie
I used to love the eggs my mum used to buy off the guy in a land rover in the 70s, he popped round the estate weekly selling spuds n eggs! Man I can still taste the yolks now! Not these wishy washy pale things with no taste "yeuch" but bright sun yellow and full of flavour! Cooked in bacon fat and crisp edges oh the joys of childhood! Sou'Wester
My sister, gave me a couple from her chickens the other day when I was home, simply no comparison with what you get from shops😋

Get a couple of chickens of your own if you have space, they don't need much room. The eggs from your own chickens are the best ever, take you straight back to the 70's. robbiep
Yup, we are fortunate in that we've got a few acres, so an area for our chucks. Absolutely nothing like eggs from your own chickens. One thing though. A friend used eggs off us for baking a cake. She was a bit alarmed by how orange the sponge mix was, due to the colour of the yolks !

She was a bit alarmed by how orange the sponge mix was, due to the colour of the yolks ! Ditto with a work colleague. I gave him a dozen from my bantams and there seems to be a higher proportion of yolk to white than in full size hens, which means VERY yellow scrambled eggs! His kids refused to eat them at first because they didn't look 'normal' . He was so impressed he's now in the process of building a chicken run and coop of his own
robbiep
BTW, if anyone nearby to me (Denbighshire) wants to try 'proper' eggs, then if we can arrange to meet up I can get a half-dozen for you to see what you're missing out on. I'm not the equivalent of some sort of pusher, honest guv ...

Gavin_d
I would love to have chickens. I have a fair size garden but have around 6 other gardens back up onto the side of mine. Are they noisy? Do you think my miserable towns neighbours would moan. The Mrs wants some too.
39TDS
Hens are n't so bad but don't have cockerels, they will do your head in.
