grahamch
Got water proof Avery Mud Slip from Warerfowl Ireland via Ebay for 23 quid last month. Looks a good bit of kit and no metal bits to rust either. Have Brady slips which are fine inland but murder when they get wet and or muddy. Dont use mine on the shore any more

oldway
I did try one of those floating cases wasn't too bad for a couple of seasons but all the padding ended up at the nose end of the slip the barrel just kept pushing it down and there's no way of getting it back lol , for the last couple of seasons ive use napier roll up cases maybe not waterproof but does the job lol Martin

rjimmer
I've never had a gun slip with a zip that didn't give out. I've now got a Arktis drag bag with a proper zip, not what you would describe as a gun slip though. The Akah Hubertus Egg Foam Case from SGC is not really a slip, but it has a shoulder sling and a good zip.
clanchief
A jack Pyke pro sport bag in green, long enough for semi autos with 30" tubes, even when wet an hour over a radiator or hung on a hook and they are dry.

mudpatten
The best one I`ve found so far is the Allen floating slip sold by John Forsey. The straps are sewn through the main body stitching and will not come adrift, It`s long enough and fastens securely with a flap top and heavy duty velcro fastener. It has no zips to rust and the carrying strap is correctly positioned so that it sits comfortably upon ones shoulder. It`s not the cheapest at around £50 but I`ll be getting another one soon, the original having now passed it`s best, although still usable, after ten years. I too recently bought one of the economy priced floating slips and found it very poor value for money. It`s too short in length which means that the flap over top and securing velcro strap is not clear of the gun which could easily fall out of the slip. The straps are in the wrong position on the slip causing it to hang awkwardly and the straps themselves are only held on the outside of the slip by half a dozen stitches. I predict that it won`t take much heavy handling before they pull off. You get what you pay for.
