sako751sg Posted January 30, 2016 Report Share Posted January 30, 2016 The last day the three of us could have together before the season ends and finally some seasonal weather for a change. Was away around 0900 with a couple of inches of snow lying but when we arrived for the shoot we found they had nothing but a decent frost.Forecast was for wintry showers and strong winds and right enough it blew a gale with heavy snow at times but it made it all the better. First had a good hour at the doos and once again there were thousands on the go.Hard shooting with the wind and some easy shoots missed but had around 39 altogether although a few were earlier in the week.Could really have had a whole day on them as they never let up when we were walking round and shows the numbers there were when most were shot whilst just walking round. Pheasants were hard going too especially with the old fella missing some that should have dropped but he was reminded about it throughout the day.Took a pic of the bag after the walk and think it was 39 doos,13 ducks(taken through the week at the ponds),9 pheasants,2 partridges,1 woodcock and 1 pinkfoot goose. Headed away to the woodcock after that but they were extremely quick rising and were out of shot before the gun was lifted but still fine to see a few. Finished off with a flight pond and again they left it to the very last to come in but we dropped 4 mallard but only picked 3 with the other making the burn and a great finish to the season. A fine season again and a few ducks broken with Mac and again seeing him and the old fella shooting together.Might have a wee walk round on Monday for the last day as usual but will see.
