While at work as i was driving i saw a flock of woodies get of a drilled field ,and thought thats close to a field i can shoot ,so on the way back from the small errand i called into the farm and had a quick look . The field the pigeons I thought were after was just over from the fields I could shoot but on closer scrutiny they seem to be on the land I had permission which had been direct drilled on heavy land . So gave me old mucker Motty a call to see if he was free, and after a phone call he got the day off .We set up with a rotary and ten birds PC style and awaited our first customer not to long and Motty had one down and he was shooting well with his new Bettinsoli,. Loads of birds went through to another field up very high but every now and then one would peal of put its wings back and drop from a great height straight in to the decoys . My shooting was a bit erratic and to cap it off my Berreta decided to pack up, I'm hoping its just some debris in the workings ,luckily Motty had is extrema one with him and I carried on with that .We finished with 90 on the clicker for what was very enjoyable day.

Yep, thoroughly enjoyable outing. You forgot to mention that we were only using steel shells. 32gm of 4 really does the business on the pigeons.

Good stuff. What sort of range can you kill them at with those steel carts motty ?

I find the clicker very handy. Some birds dropped on the next field across and also some in the dykes. I find it hard to keep up if I don't click them.

So why did you need a clicker surely on drilling all shot birds could have been picked and counted or do you count the ones you think you hit also.

Fair enough but I have come across people who claim to have shot fantastic bags of 200+ on the clicker yet only picked up a few. I can see they are a useful tool to know how many you have to pick up but myself and all I shoot with only count the number actually picked up as the final bag.
