rabbit_stu
A close friend set us up with an incubator and a handful of eggs, under the excuse it would be a great experience for my son, however after the first chick hatched this morning I think my partner and I have enjoyed it just as much! I'm blown away by the experience and also his generosity in giving us all the kit to get us going. Id like to get him a gift to say thank you, but not just a pack of beers. He's a farmer/shooter/rugby playing chap so something along those lines.... Any thoughts??
fenboy
A nice knife ? ----- tell him its not for rugby though
grrclark
A picture of your lad with fresh chick in hand along with a letter written by your boy saying thanks, if he is old enough for that, would probably make him smile as that is why he gifted you the kit to begin with. I'm with Fenboy on the knife idea too.
panoma1
Farmer/shooter/countryman? I like the idea of a photo and handwritten letter, and a slight variation on a theme.....what about a quality multi tool? Leatherman type?
felly100
Why play gift tennis. A letter and phot is the way forward I reckon.
Cranfield
The letter and photo is a great idea, I am sure he didn't give it to you expecting anything in return. You could wait awhile and give him half a dozen eggs.

Dougy
I also agree with the Photo and letter, Receiving a thank you letter with a photo and showing the pleasure that it has given you specially your lad, will be far greater received than most other gifts. lord_seagrave
Yep, I've got to say that a handwritten letter of thanks is a rare thing these days. Good shout +1 LS
rabbit_stu
Much appreciated guys. I'll be getting the pencil sharpened and the little chap writing his thank you in the morning. Also love the suggestion of the rugby tickets. Will slot them in along with the letter and picture. Thanks for the suggestions. Now, any ideas on how to drag the Mrs away from the new born chicks?? Starting to get a little nervous on the ideas it may give her!!

jonny thomas
Deffo letter and picture us rugby players are a sentimental lot However the gift of beer will ALWAYS melt the heart of the toughest rugby man
