I am about to start refinishing the stock on my old Browning Auto-5. I have a door and wood stripping company near where I live and was considering getting them go professionally dip and strip the stock and forend. I just wondered if anyone has ever done this and how it turned out?

According to their website they do a whole door for 30 quid so it should be a cheap option as well.

I have just finished a oiled stock and Nitromors and wire wool did the job, this stock had not been touched since it was made in the early 70's. It took a few coats then rubbing with wire wool very fine grade and a good wipe down with meths or similar to make sure it's all removed and leave to dry and see what it's like then do it again if needed. I use wire wool grade 0000, best advise I ever got about stocks is it take time so don't rush it.
