Sounds like you had a good weekend I have a stalk on roe on Wednesday and back after my troublesome fox on Saturday :) I know where he is and what time he comes so hopefully there will be a picture on here then

Cheers bud and good luck with the fox.

I am lucky that I have a friend who is happy to let me shoot his deer. In a lot of cases I am just happy to see a deer as there are so few round where I live (unless I have a walk around the deer park at Powis Castle..and they wouldnt be happy if I took the .243 in.)

Back out last night after dealing with the dead sika hanging in the garage. Over to the farm where 2 foxes had been spotted..a fair bit of walking and calling later no sign of anything. Moved over to another farm across the road to hear a dog fox calling. Unfortunately despite using the library of calls on my foxpro no luck. As I was leaving the field I spotted eye shine but only caught a glimpse of the fox through the NV before it was gone. I headed down across another couple of fields in the direction I thought that the fox had gone, set up the caller, vixen call on and spotted a fox at the bottom of the field. Onto the ground, NV on and 105 grain soft point away. Nice vixen chest shot at about 120 yards. Just about to call the farmer who will be chuffed.

Thanks for reading

Well done on the fox and Sika.

I need to agree targets with Bumpy :). 76 seems to be a popular number around here.

Went out on the foxes last week saw a few but nothing was playing ball.

Deer stalking on Sunday in the fog was not good. Caught three Doe's at about 80 yards but they were sky lined so had to just stand and watch for about an hour. When they eventually crossed the ridge and we could move under the hill they had vanished. Bumped another about an hour later but it did not stop. Struggling to see them with the poor vis before they saw us.

Fox from the kitchen window last night (1250 did not even wake the wife) to open this years activity. Now where is that tape measure.

:good: Well done mate. Nice to end the run of frustration with a nice fox. 76 sounds a nice target mate, keep on at them.

Been hitting the foxes hard baiting but My bottle of fox attractor (Uncle Tom) has run out and Carnt seam to find it anywhere

Foxes on the shoot seam to be less now with more coming from around the outside of a town

Whats the attractor? Is it a home made version?

After taking the fox off the bate on Wednesday night, I noticed some more had been taken Thursday night. Sat up again last night and had this very mangy vixen. It came in at 0200 so may need some extra sleep this afternoon. Another for the Dave G NV on the HMR.

She looks in very poor condition. Can my dog catch mange off the foxes? I have put it at the top of the field in scrub with the last one but and try to keep the dog off it. If its catching I may have to put it over the hedge.

The Fox lure I use is made from horse hoof clippings which have been boiled and kept in plastic containers. (the longer it's kept, the better) I get my supply off a farrier friend of mine. The smell is very strong, and is excellent for attracting Foxes. Originally used in Canada to attract Bobcats/Coyotes, and very easy to make.

A pair from last night, saw the Dog last Thursday night at 20.15 but no chance of a shot. I was actually still in the truck on the way to the shooting point, scanned the field and he was trotting across in front of me, so by the time I could get the rifle out he would have been long gone. And then the weather fluffed the night up.

So out sat night but on the spot at 19.15, caller out and stinky hoof sprayed around.

I scanned the area out to probably 6/700 yards off with the thermal and spotted these 2 playing kiss chase. But coming to the side of me and down wind, so I was expecting things to go pear shaped. The vixen came along the side of the hedge with no chance of a shot, the dog was 100yds in front, the vixen came through a gate and came walking straight towards me as I was on the back of the truck. Getting the x hair on a target at less than 15yds is not easy with NV, lol 7 paces out and a head shot. Then quickly spot with the thermal to find the dog, 190yds out and a tad touchy, quick shot and down. Both shot in less than 10 seconds..

Happy keeper. And done by 20.45.
