WelshMike
Nice result again Mike. Blank again for me last night, nothing seen. Cheers and sorry to hear you had a blank night mate. Told now it should be here in next delivery to uk which is this month. Not holding my breath. Have to sort out high seat on deer lease while I am waiting. Waiting at airport for flight back and firearms just called to clear another farm. Need to get portable high seat as it's pretty flat. Fingers crossed for you mate. Out last night with the 223 after seeing a fox when rabbiting with the hmr, caught a glimpse of it when it vanished. 15 mins or so later it popped back up while I was drinking my coffee, 1 shot and she was down and christened the howa. Sadly no pictures, she wasn't in a good way and looked as if she had a scrap with a car and lost... caught the eyes of another but I was too slow. Went and hand a chat with a farmer earlier on today when I came home from work who has a farm near the local tip, he has many foxes around. Chat with his neighbors saying he had someone shooting fox but they never come and they keep taking all there chickens and will start on the lambs before long so left my number with them. There's a walk near the area and even hand squeaking for a minute or 2 showed 4 sets of eyes. Just waiting for the phone call. Another farm to see at the weekend who have some good hilly ground with a wood slap bang in the middle who are having an issue. With a bit of luck eh, next time I get one il get a pic Well done on the first fox and well done on the new permissions mate. Look forward to seeing some good pics. Be aware that a high standard is set on here and you will get some abuse (not from me of course) if the pics are not top notch
Tournage
Too right - not going to stop me in the meantime trying to pull them closer though! You may do more damage mate. Every time you call them and dont shoot them it makes it harder to get them to come in again.i know its tempting but might be worth waiting for the new muskett atb ed Yes, I agree with you actually - good things come to those who wait I suppose! WelshMike
Yes, I agree with you actually - good things come to those who wait I suppose! I hate to say it but I actually agree with Ed on this. An educated fox is likely to be a difficult fox. Also I know guys who hold the light on a fox for ages when they first spot it, big mistake. The lamp wants to be on for the bare minimum of time (unless somebody has left tissue in their scope ). Get set up for the shot and then when the light goes back on the clock is ticking. Often you will only have 3-4 seconds to get a shot away.

WelshMike
but this does not have to be the case in the bedroom mike, your poor wife That 3-4 seconds includes 1 second to roll over and 1 to go back to sleep....cheeky begger

Nothing like keeping it clean Back from lanzagrote and every bit of bait cleared from garden. Wife has flown back to Malaga for the night and it forecasts rain so I am setting up on the kitchen window. Item on SW news about rescue centre taking in orphaned cubs. I wonder where they will be releasing them
racing snake
Managed a couple of hours out before the rain arrived. Nothing seen again. Need to get up on some of my higher perms but the weather's just not fit for it at the moment. Bring back the cold frosty nights! At least tomorrow looks dry but if the sky's clear then that moon is going to be a PITA. Edited March 7, 2017 by racing snake

WelshMike
Well last night the weather was lovely...apart from it being like daylight due to the moon Had 4 farms to cover so over to number 1. Had to pick my spots carefully due to the lack of darkness. Set up the caller in a couple of spots but no luck. Spotted a fox about 150 yards away but no shot due to the road in between me and him. No amount of calling got a reaction and off he went. I decided to go and see if I could find him so off across the road into the field to be met by a tell tail eye shine. At this point I was in the middle of the field about 70 yards from the fox. Slowly got the sticks set up and over to the NV. The fox was interested in the hand calling but wouldnt present a safe shot for the first 30 or so seconds. He finally cleared and dropped to a chest shot. The shot caught his guts on the way out and made a fair mess so no pic of him. Poor fox was virtually devoid of fur on his back half because of mange, horrible to see. Nice size dog fox and given that the farmer has just turned out some ewes and lambs onto this ground a good result. Farm 2, no luck. Farm 3 , brew with my mate...then no luck Farm 4- I have a favorite spot on a bank that overlooks a few flat fields. Quick call and spotted some nice eye shine. Lay down and over to the NV to see the culprit in among the lambs in the next field. Bit more hand squeaking got him into the field and as he walked in front of a nice big ash he met his end to a chest shot. A nice looking dog fox and mange free.. 20170302_205646-604x805.jpgJust a few from a couple of outings. 2 taken with my 17 remington 20grn vmax and 2 with a 22.250 35grn vmax.17 remington 135 yrd.175yrd 35 vmax.175yrd 35grn vmax20170308_215242-1008x756.jpg135yard 35grn vmax Nicely done buddy
tonker
Well done all those that got out and could see, I had a phone call from a farmer to say his ewes and lambs had been turned, out and could I go over and have a look as his wife had seen a fox around them during the day. Nice when I left home, little drizzle as I drove over, when I arrived there was a hint of a mist but not to bad. Three fields up the hill to where the sheep were and I could only see about 100 yds. I thought to myself this is not good. As I was there and they had phoned I thought I'd park myself into a tree to see if it would clear any. An hour and a half latter and I couldn't see 30 yds so I thought I'd go home. One last look with the nv although I knew it would be a waste of time because I knew it wouldn't penetrate and bloody hell a pair of eyes. They were coming up the hedge toward me. Fox Height, Fox width and Fox action, the trouble was that's all I could see the eye shine. I never saw the body that came with those eyes 100% sure it was a Fox but I watched the eyes hop through a gate and disappear. Anyway did my bit, and if it's clear tonight I'll have another go. racing snake
Good work again chaps, well done for getting out, and top work again Mike, Dougy, Babs. That dog's a minter Mike. Same situation for me with the moon Mike, but I went to the high hill and picked a couple of spots in the gorse and ran the caller at the corners of the permission, nothing doing. Air was nice and dry so the thermal was at its best, could see for miles with it but only the odd Bunty about. Down to another small permission on the way home, again nothing doing here either. Don't think I've ever had so many nights out in a row without seeing a fox. I've hit them pretty hard this year but I think maybe the vixens have gone to ground with cubs. Try again tonight! You have shot them all mate. To be fair I have shot 5 on a couple of new bits of land in the last couple of weeks so that has made a bit of a difference. Back out again tonight on a couple of my established permissions so likely to draw a blank as they have been quiet the last few times as I tend to keep the little critters under control. Hopefully I am wrong and the RSPCA have dropped off some nice tame foxes as there have been claims from one of the Northern folks on here that I am only capable of shooting tame foxes.....no respect

None to post from me and bumpy. Despite our best efforts around the golf course nothing to show .
