WelshMike
Nice work Mike. Finally got out tonight for a more serious stint on the foxes. I've had a quick hour a week or so ago on a small cover not far from me but tonight was a more concerted effort. Decided to head for a nice permission I picked up in the Spring. I'd picked up a couple of dog foxes and a barren vixen in two nights before I put the guns away for the summer, reckoned there were a couple of vixens with cubs so was expecting to see some about tonight. I wasn't disappointed. Walking up to the field I planned to put the caller in and there's a vixen already mooching about. On the fence post - down goes number 1. Pretty frantic action for the next hour and half. Foxes were coming in regularly to the beer can call, sometimes I was literally walking out to pick up fox up, getting back to my spot and there would be another in the field. Ended up with 7 for a couple of hours, a dog, vixen and 5 decent sized cubs. Nice to get out again. Well done bud, back with a bang

racing snake
Top drawer RS. Can I ask what a beer can call is ? It's an MP3 I had off someone in the past, sounds like sucking on the top of a beer can I guess. It's really effective though. If you PM me your email address I'll fire it over to you FH. It's not one of those proprietary Foxpro files, it's an MP3 so it'll work on any caller.

Dougy
Well after having a rest from the Fox's I thought I would make a start as now the pheasant poults are starting to clear the fence in the release pen. This was the 1st one shot from around 15 feet away. I'll be out tonight.

Some of the best calls I've used have been with my homemade ones. I sandwich two lolly pop sticks together with a thin piece of plastic in between. I've experimented by using different plastic material and various thicknesses/ extra layers, and have produced some great sounds. Also, if you lose the call, it's cheap yo make another one. FOXHUNTER1
Checked out one of my perms last night luckily to find some barley stubbles. 1st field I spotted 2 foxes on the edge of a wood ,I started to hand call them and they both came in nice and steady I shot the closest one first and expected the other to scarper but to my surprise it continued coming in to see what its sibling was doing . I quickly dispatched this one too. Good start , I continued across the stubbles but only saw 1 more which frustratingly sat skylined and no amount of calling would make it move . Dougy
Cheers FS. Another passed away last night. Put my icotec called out, checked it before I walked off to my Shooting point. Put rabbit squeak on but heard b all. Blooming battery went flat. Mr fox still happens to wonder past at the wrong time though. Battery's all charged and ready to go this morning. racing snake
Bit of a mixed outing for me last night - a couple of hours around the sheds after a few rats with the air rifle, then swap guns and have an hour or two on the barely stubble for charlie. Only saw the one, a vixen which came to the caller after an hour or so.

Gotta love the stubbles RS ...Unfortunately I cannot get out now til next weekend and had a phone call today from a guy who has passed my number on to a landowner who has a fox problem , took a turkey the other day so hopefully more permission . bornfree
Finally caught up with a duck killing vixen last night. I've been after her for two weeks she would come early one night and then miss two nights before coming late the next. So I got in place at 9.30 and she turned up at 3.45am and it was a nice easy shot at 60 yards a long wait but well worth it.

WelshMike
Well done gents. Fruity- I dont mean to critical but you need to learn the difference between stubble and grass. Grass is normally green

racing snake
Tricky night last night, what with the full moon and clear skies. Headed out to a favourite permission about half an hour away. Nothing doing on the lower section, so about midnight I headed up through the treeline onto the top section hoping to find some shadow and get the caller running. Got caught out a bit by a fox though, as I was walking to my spot where I can get under a thick hawthorn and get the caller set up, I had a quick scan and spotted a fox on the next hill, sat in the middle of a bunch of rabbits. Knew that it was going to be tricky to call him in, I was still in the open, moon still blaring and wasn't fancying my chances of getting him in closer. I know the cover well enough to know he was over 200 yards away but not more than 300. Gave him some calls with the mouth caller but he just stayed sat, watching me. No chance. "Right, you ********** Usually shoot of the primos but as he was in no hurry to move, and a bit rangy I got the gun on the bipod, rear bag out of the rucksack and got him in the scope. Hmmm, he looked pretty small even at X15, but with no wind, and him offering a big target sat looking straight at me, I fancied my chances. Put the crosshair on his eyes and let one go. Saw him drop instantly in the scope, then what seemed like a full second later the report of the round hitting home came back. Now I just had to go and pick him up! Down the side of one small, but steep valley, through a hawthorn thicket and up the other side. Clean chest shot just right of centre. Bit of a scrawny cub but pleased with the shot. Nothing else seen. Ranged it on GE when I got home - 268 yards.
