Fredwalton
Hi all I have a Berreta I might buy but the has some marks that are apparently from when the gun was damp in a cabinet, the seller has told me the rest of the gun is fine and from the other pics it's all looks ok. I was just wondering if anything could be done about the marks? Hopefully the picture will show this.
Rst1990
Hard to tell in a picture how bad the marks are but it doesn't look very good. Worst case the barrels may have to be redone, Trying to patch the end up will always show. If it's cheap go for it.

It's up 695 but thought I would get advice on here then maybe try and get a bit off this price
Wingman
That's doesn't look good. If it was me I would pass it by and look for another one. Maybe I am cynical but if the barrel has been left to get in this state I would seriously question how well the gun has been cared for.. Thanks I did think that myself, this is why I like to ask people on here as they all have a lot more experience than I do. When I spoke to the guy he said it had sat in a cabinet fir some time hence the barrel damage. He said the action is still nice a tight. I've never brought a gun via a picture / internet. Junkyard Dog
Its too expensive, looking at the action pics, the marks near the stock would concern me also, £375 as it is......
Fredwalton
I think from what everyone has said the search will continue. I'm glad I asked on here thanks for all of your comments so far.

Fredwalton
Don't bother its been neglected buy somewhere else If could actually look at it I might be more inclined to buy but it's up north and miles away and don't want to risk spending that kind of money on a dud gun as you said
Exudate
A very unloved gun. No excuses to let it get into that state, especially with gun care products as thy are now. You can even get moisture absorbers that sit inside the safe. Let it pass, mate.

You can even get moisture absorbers that sit inside the safe. Let it pass, mate. I have a little dehumidifier in cupboard where the cabinet is kept for that exact reason. It's annoying as I really want a 687 but I know another one will appear at some point.

Fredwalton
Just putting out there if the price was lower would it be worth a look at? From what everyone has said I'm not interested in it but just wondering anyway!
Dougy
Looks like rust to me. Though the pictures may be deceiving.
Big Al
Just putting out there if the price was lower would it be worth a look at? From what everyone has said I'm not interested in it but just wondering anyway! From my point of view, not at any money. It does look like rust from the photos. It looks like the rust is under the blacking in the first picture. I didn't even know that was possible. It could just be the picture though. The day you buy is the day you sell. I wouldn't feel happy selling a gun in that condition. There are plenty of good 687s around. Look at Guntrader or Gun watch. wisdom
From the pictures based on what we can see it would have to be very cheap as in my opinion if the barrels are in that condition what's the action like inside.Even knock about guns are in better condition. Dougy
Just to add, just in case, cutting the rust off the end and improving the look will not bode well if you ever went to sell it. Just in case it has been suggested to you. As most have said leave it.
