Absolutely agree with you for once.

The best thing the Tories could do would be to make that Scottish firebrand Ruth Wotsername as PM so that at least they could feel as being part of the process.

Yes. its about time we had a Gay, Kickboxing bully as PM!

Scotland may well go for another referendum, but many Scots will be faced with the prospect of having to adopt the Euro, which is a failing currency...and they would have to apply to join, and that would NOT necessarily be a done deal, as they would be looked upon as just another basket case economy with its hand out..

Yup, no one in Europe is going to be in a massive rush to welcome the Scots into the fold. Surely, the divots in the SNP realise that. Still, it paves the way for another century of chippy finger pointing and moaning about the English I guess. Every cloud and all that...

Just had the most surreal experience. Had an early morning appointment with my consultant urologist, a nice British Indian chap. We were discussing the referendum, the outcome and how we voted. He, like me, was initially an 'outer' but became a 'remainder'. We both agreed that it was probably a good thing that has happened and then discussed the likely impact on the markets.

All of this was done with his finger up my bum. I did wince a few times.

Well, you are obviously uncomfortable about gays (otherwise you would not have mentioned it). Stating your opinion in public in many workplaces would now get you the sack - or haven't you noticed?

I personally don't care about peoples 'orientation', as long as we get the best person for the job, and she has certainly made a huge impression in Scotland, and managed to reversed Tory fortunes up there.

As for the kickboxing bit - well handbagging people was certainly a major asset about one of our previous PM's, and kickboxing has to be one step higher.

Tightchoke - I saw the Mandelson interview - slated Corbyn. Talk about a knife in the back.

I voted for Out, but am surprised by the outcome. I thought Farage's comments about the woman from Bolton summed it up. I don't think most politicians "get" what this was about. Leaving the EU might have been about the pound, imports, exports, sovereignty for many, but for most of my family and friends it was about unlimited immigration.

You are part of the problem, just what is wrong with pointing out peoples orientation, race, colour, disability etc etc,, just why does that make me uncomfortable about it? It means nothing, why do people get so sensitive about it? Gordon Browns is blind in one eye apparently, why should stating that make me uncomfortable?

I'm white, the Aussies call me a Pommie, do I rush to the race relations and get then sacked!?

I'm totally about getting the BEST PERSON for the job, and commonly that means standing up to numb nuts who seem to promote positive discrimination, which I find incomprehensible!

To state the completely blindingly obvious, it is against the law to discriminate in terms of sex, race, 'orientation' etc.

This is simply because some people are sensitive about it, and in the past people have been horribly, unjustifiably discriminated against because of it. The world has moved on, and quite rightly so. If you cannot see this then there is no point in arguing further.

Remember the old bully comment at school - "What's up - cannot you take a joke?".

I used to work for an Australian company, and they were very good to work for and excellent employers. They did not choose to employ Australians instead of Brits for racist reasons - it was all done on individual merit. True, some of them called us Pommies and the context of this was carefully controlled, just as some of us called them kangaroo lovers.

What are you talking about, try reading my post again and tell me which part is wrong or discriminatory?

You were daft enough to label someone as being gay, and that possibly being a reason not to choose them as being a future PM.

If that was not your intention, then why describe them as being gay at all?

So, if I sad they were male or female, had black hair or blonde hair, was wearing trousers or a skirt etc., etc am I being discriminatory, grow up, I was using descriptive terms, and there was no suggestion of discrimination. And just where did I say/suggest because they were gay they should not be PM? I have pointed out firmly I have no time for discrimination and particularly not for Positive discrimination.

.....and as for your selective/controlled use of the word Pommie, then that deeply offends me, who is anyone else to tell me the use of the word is acceptable at times they decide, so tuff, get over it and stop being such a girle!

It's discrimination by association. You use the word gay and bully in the same sentence and therefore gay gets associated with the negativeness associated with bully.

Like it or not if you used such terms in the workplace somebody would pull you up over it.

Good grief, did you vote IN and are just having a hormonal time now?

This isn't the workplace, I'm not being discriminatory, and you are going out of your way to make something out of nothing!

I didn't say it was my opinion or that I agree with it. Was simply stating why some people would see it as discriminatory and why it wouldn't be accepted in the workplace.

Well, all of your post indicates that you belong in the attitudes of the 1960's, when discrimination was rife and 'blokes' thought it was acceptable to call complete strangers 'Gay' or 'Girlie'.

I have news for you - if you call people either of the above in the wrong context within earshot of witnesses then you will be whisked into court before you can utter the words 'What's the matter with you - cannot you take a joke?".

Bluster as much as you want to - it is no consolation when you are left with huge legal fees at best.
