I wont break any rules during this question and statements to follow. Anyway I used to love this site, I was huge in supporting it! and promoting it with various news pappers etc. I even helped out when this site crashed and begged and asked other sites to publish links for members to be able to get back on the site during this crash..... Other sites did not have a problem and gladly supported this, (despite the rules of pw about posting other sites) Then I noticed when "another site" crashed. PW did not allow details of this to be published. I felt a bit responsible because I had done so much asking and begging of the other sites to allow the PW members to be informed of new links and ways to log on!!!!! I wont talk too negitive on here but I have to say my good byes on this site now! I will check responces first! but please note that after this thread runs its course I will remove this site off my favorites.... I want to state that pw was a great help and very informative during the first year or so when I joined. I enjoyed meeting people off the site and also got alot of usefull information from members. Sadly now it seems that you cant speak at all, you have no freedom, the moderators are saying one thing to one person and another to someone else... (IF YOU WANT CLARIFICATION PLEASE ASK TEAL!!!) I often found moderators to be breaking the rules they are ment to be inforcing.. and overall not being there as much as they should... letting things esculate to a point where reputations are damnaged... or someone gets banned. (often the innocent person!) I appreciate that there is a sponcer of the site.... but to be honest not being able to direct members elsewhere is not the most appropiate situation. Now banning links in pms has also over stepped the freedom and the "quality " of this site. I wish you all luck. and I refuse to blame anyone directly... I felt a need to express my feelings / and views before I depart from this site.... I do not mean to offend anyone... and for those who do not agree with my statements.... your more than entitled to voice your opionion!!!! good luck guys/gals... hope to see you out in the fields, or at clay events....... It certainly has it's strange rules about which section we can upload files to and which ones we can't which I can't get my head around, and have complained about it more than once. I post more on the BB's now. Even though it only has a small rimfire section. I see this forum as rather like a political party - you like, don't like, or tolerate. My feeling is that this is - or started out as - a shotty forum primarily for people who shoot pigeons. I live with it and tend to just look through on a daily basis, and only post if I have advice to offer or gain from it and see more and more threads of this nature. Is anyone's use and enjoyment really ruined by not being able to post a link to a competitor site or competitor to the site sponsor. I take the point that censoring links in PMs is gaylordian for want of a better expression, but hey if it's that important send an email to those concerned. Lets not forget our enjoyment and use of this site costs us nothing and the mods do a job for which they receive neither reward nor thanks. What about constructive points - what *exactly* does everyone think should be changed - now there's a Poll topic. Moving beyond the "the Mods won't let me big up another shooting forum / shooting supplies website" gripes what's the matter - specifically? Really though, is it that bad? No, it's not. Well you have to be English by birth or living in England now! It also helps if you have the skin of a Rhino and the brain of a Gnat I think you have to be clinically insane to want to be a mod, personally. I have to say although relatively new to PW it has been a HUGE help for me. I now know stuff on shotguns/rifles that I never knew and would/will help me in the future should I progress. mel b3 Posted May 18, 2007 Report Share Posted May 18, 2007 hi john , it's a shame that you feel that you have to leave the site mate , you've been a good contributer and your charity work is to be commended . i think the mods do their level best and that they do a very good job all things considered , they have to play referee between hundreds of posters and try to remain impartial and follow the rules of the site , even if this contradicts their personal feeling on some issue or other . i'm only guessing here but i would say that as they (the mods) usually appear to annoy both sides in any argument , they are probably getting things about right . the mods have a thankless job and of late they really seem to be taking an unfair battering. despite what my profile says , i've been kicking around the site from pretty much the beggining , i've watched the site change and evolve over the last few years and at times i've felt some of the changes weren't good for the site(too easy going now) but it's still here and in my humble opinion it's probably one of the most sensibly moderated shooting sites around. as i remember , in the begining , it was will/teal (who was then a schoolboy) , deako , lazza and cranfield as mods , cranfield was not the easy going relaxed chap that he is now and you could find yourself booted off the site for some of the near the knuckle language that we sometimes see now , deako started to sponsor the site but after a year or so things changed and we now have a new sponsor (yorkshire pudding has always been a mentalist ). as does everything in life , the site is changing and we all need to change a little with it and just be a little more tolerant and understanding of others. like i said at the start of the post mate , it's a great shame that you feel you have to leave and personally i will be sad to see you go mate , all the best in everything you do Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The Mods have a thankless task but on occasions they can be found with their heads firmly embedded up their ***, but can't we all? I have learnt a lot from this site and will hopefully continue to do so as nobody, not even the mod's know it all. For the record what REALLY boils my **** is the fact that some people post on here as an authority on their chosen topic when infact they are either cutting and pasting what is on other forums, making it up or just plain sticking their oar in where the have no experience at all!!! Infact if you look back. mod/s already replied and only made a light joke of this situation. I thank you for reconising the charity work done in the past and feel very happy that you remembered about that. I feel very sad overall but I have chosen this path of leaving PW because I feel that my only future contributions will be of a negitive nature, due to incompetent moderators, or moderators who see to make the rules fit themselfs.... Please again realise that I am not picking on any one mod.. nor do I feel it needed to single anyone out... and for those mods who do a great job (there are a few) thank you for making this site what it was! I know there is alot of work that mods need to do.. and that the site is sponsered by the above company... but for piggen sake... I would gladly pay for the sponsorship... if it meant we could be honest about products... and give information. I know there are other sites... WHICH I wont name... because thats a instant ban...... some are good.. some bad... but they all have one thing in common... and I think that its being overlooked. all the sites were set up.. not to compete with PW but to have the freedom to express in a polite manner and also a educated fashion our views, thoughts, and also ideas.... This seems to be lost now on PW.... so for those telling me or suggesting to slam the door on the way out.. or not let it hit me on the way out.. etc etc.... you need to have a better look at the route problem.. or reasons why so many are going to other sites... great you will get new people all the time... but then with all these new people come the same questions.. Please note I am not saying that we shouldnt answer them.. or have new members come in... but you have to have something to keep those who were/ are dedicated to this site. I thank you all..... and again.. once this runs its course.. I will depart.. and for the record.. this is not a cry of help... or look at me.. I could have easily posted millions of pics etc... and stories.. but I choose not to... so please lets not go down that route... anyway please any constructive replys....
