paul1966
i am currently with OVO for dual fuel, the 1 year fixed deal runs out early January next year, they want an extra £20 a month for a new fixed deal. i am going to do some number crunching over the next couple of days, anyone care to recommend a company?, money saving expert recommends a company called "places for people energy" its a very small company with mixed reviews on line so not sure about that one. Dougy
Mike sure that your meter reading are correct, starting from tomorrow. I've had some rather entertaining conversations with various suppliers over the years. Trying to rip me off lol
Pigeon Shredder.
Go to USwitch, it's all there for you and easily explained, I did it and saved £380 per year.
al4x
First utility have been good for me. They do keep trying to get me off the current tariff though with new long term offers that are a lot more expensive which is the only thing I dislike about them. Monthly readings keeps an accurate bill
bruno22rf
Extraenergy, I think, are about the best price at the moment for a fixed price year + deal.
B25Modelman
Watchdog's prog last night covered this topic. It would appear that all the Switching companies are on the hooky even USwitch. They all promote the companies that they want you to use.
sportsbob
I use Opus energy for Business and First Utility for domestic as they both gave the best rates by far. I also got no standing charge on the gas with Opus and as I don`t use much gas the saving is very good. KFC
Flow energy saved me £220 a year with a painless switch over
Greenhunter
I'm with PfP, no complaints so far. I assume you'll check with all the comparison sites. If PfP comes out top don't worry about going with them. GH
shaun4860
I've been more than happy since switching from N Power to Eon, I pay £56 per month for both, when I build up enough credit they simply transfer it back to me whereas N Power kept wanting to increase my payments even though I was in credit, I also get Tesco Clubcard points from Eon
Luckyshot
I was with British gas then changed to Sainsbury's which is still a British gas subsidiary. I live in a 1 bed bungalow all led lighting wood burner for heating so use very little gas (£3 in 4 years) and I pay £6 a month combined for electric and gas. I'm running a smart meter also so can verify each months bill.
Passionforangling
My advice would be NOT to go with a company called Extra Energy. They appear cheap, but they don't issue you with a bill for a year, but direct debits up for no reason. I should have looked at all the awful reviews for them on line. Thankfully now rid of them. Luckyshot
What did you use £3 of gas for? £6 a month combined?!?!?!?? Mine is £104!!!!!! Hot water, combi only uses 2p per week for this. Parents live down the street from me and pay per day what I pay per month. I've had new meters installed and checked numerous times and have been told they are correct so who am I to argue with them. Oh dear! Not my experience with them at all... in fact, I've just signed up for their dual fuel, one year contract for the third year running! Accepting that my monthly payment has gone up £18 (probably mostly due to the fall in the value of the £), they are still the cheapest on the comparison sites for my particular situation. paul1966
well after an evening of number crunching i have switched to PFP energy, if the numbers are correct i won't be paying any more than i am now, hopefully a bit less. The down side is that the smart meter i had fitted about a year ago will no longer be smart, i thought the newer meters were compatible with the different suppliers, obviously not.
