I thought it was quite a good debate, the "gun enthusiast" and the specialist solicitor dealt with it well.

With reference to the case in question, the police FLO were correctly identified as at fault, the point was well made that generally, the laws are tight enough and the recurring and ongoing problems were identified as due to lack of training, police understaffing and underfunding!

The opinion expressed by the Doctor was irrelevant as it appeared to have mainly come second hand from his (hardly impartial!) policeman mate.........

I did not feel Jeremy Vine had a particular axe to grind against guns and gun ownership!

I don't think he has to be honest; he doesn't appear to know enough about the subject beyond his own personal opinion, whatever that may be.

The part which annoyed me was his initial question to his audience, along the lines of 'does your husband or wife own guns and do you feel threatened as a result'?

one woman said the london police said fill in the form on line, and send it so he did and that was that.i though you could not do that.

I come under the MET and I don't know of an online application

I heard that part (although I can't swear it was the Met), it was a renewal that had been done online.

Could it just be that you find the forms online, print them off and send them in?

Maybe they allow you to scan the completed forms and email them in, I know this is ok with a 'notification of transfer or disposal' form.

voldemort?

i wouldnt mind a 10yr licence. its cheaper by half and the chances of anything changing that needs police intervention / notification is pretty slim really.

that cuts some cost.
