Guerini Guy
Never had this before, but a field on one of my perms has been planted with onions. Haven't had chance to chat with farmer yet to find out what sort (in case that matters) but have never read any reports of "pigeons over onions". Apart from that sounding like a nice dish . . . . . anybody else had any experience of this. I would guess that they will be of no interest to pigeons, but I would just like some knowledgeable feedback please?
Old Boggy
Possibly French pigeons may show an interest, but you'll have one shot and that's shallot. Seriously, pigeons won't go anywhere near. OB
39TDS
I wouldn't have thought the farmer would want you to shoot over them. Someone finding a piece of lead in one of his onions would be very expensive for him.

However, there has been absolutely no interest shown by the pigeons since drilling so the issue has not occurred ..... Yet. OB

pigeon controller
I have shot a field of onions twenty years ago , had a reasonable bag I recall. The birds were feeding on chickweed between the rows and we set up on the edge of the field and did not shoot over the crop. Keep an eye out for chickweed. Whitetail
Farmers often times plant a cover crop like barley or wheat when drilling onions or sugar beet to stop the seeds from getting blown away , then spray the cereal off when the onions or whatever have started growing. So yes it's worth keeping a eye on
