Moving house

Evening all,

What's the process when moving house with shotguns?

Do you put your guns in storage? Obviously there is going to be a week gap, take cabinet off the wall repair wall.

Put up in new house?

Do you inform the firearms department first?

I've never moved with a shotgun before.

Moved many times & never needed to use storage.

Empty cabinet.

Take cabinet off the wall & put it into the vehicle for move to new address.

Put the guns into the cabinet (still in vehicle)

Drive to new address.

Remove guns into house.

Take cabinet into new house & fit into place.

Shove guns into it.

Inform firearms department(s) of new address.

Get the kettle on & have a brew!

I moved house 4 years back the last thing I took was the cabinet , I had this in the back of the car and thought id vist tip , some guy clocked the cabinet and came over and said ill have that mate no need to tip it , I nearly peed my self laughing

I fixed it straight away in the new property and let police know I had moved

As mentioned already.

With so much going on, on the day, it's just a matter of whether you have time to prioritise fitting your cabinet in new house as soon as you get there (can't go to bed that night with gun/s under the bed).

If you can't prioritise this, put in a friends house (up to 72hrs if I remember correctly without the need to inform the police) until you can fit your cabinet.

Thanks all

This is the problem taking it down fixing and patching the holes up moving and putting the safe up won't be fine in a day.

I'll be lucky to do it in a week!

I'll put them in storage :)

Then why don't you just move and inform licensing when you're sorted?

Last time i moved the guns were locked in the safe in the car under a huge pile of stuff the night before leaving to allow time to make the wall good. 0530 got moving, arrived at new address 2300, put locked safe in hallway and bolted in the next day.

The problem we encountered was the customs lot not being able to find the cabinet on the way through customs.
